In “Highly Variable”, physics PhD student Kyle M. Kabasares discusses his experiences in graduate school and a wide range of his interests, including but not limited to physics, math, science/science communication, chess, baseball, basketball, and history. Although Kyle is not an expert in any given field (except maybe physics), he has spent a dedicated amount of time learning and cultivating those other interests over the course of his life and feels confident in expressing his thoughts and opinions those interests. Kyle is also interested in disseminating graduate school culture and university culture in general, and explaining what academics do on a day-to-day basis.

Episode 8: The Long Overdue Hawaii Episode
Although long overdue, I finally got around to editing and uploading the one episode I filmed in Hawaii from trip in January. I was on the fence about uploading this episode, but figured since I went through the trouble of bringing my filming gear to Hawaii and back, I might as well show what it produced. In this episode, I talk about the trip and all the different stops along the way, and how it is mainly a trip focused on my astrophysics research and develop as a young scientist. These stops include the American Astronomical Society Meeting, an observing run at Gemini North Observatory, and the inaugural Submillimeter Array Interferometry Workshop!
