Placid_88 gives us an education in Deep House. A mix comprised of 90's U.S. House, yes the real stuff. The sound-definition of the long contested sub-genre, finally gets the clarification it deserves. Deep from start to finish, this mix takes you on a journey through the groove, introducing you to things you may not have heard before; Placid_88 calls it The Gateway Mix.
Some words from Placid_88:
"I've been buying electronic music since 1989 and I'm still in love with it. Resident DJ for one of London’s longest running Acid house nights, behind a 14.5k Facebook group for crate diggers called We’re Going Deep, and I'm just about to release the first 12” under a label with the same name [We're Going Deep]."
"About the mix, while a lot of the UK was dancing away to UK hardcore, I was immersing myself in the rich immersive sounds of U.S. house. This mix is a peek into those sounds. Mostly from the early 90's but with a few newer ones. I tried to maintain the depth and warmth those records give. I called it a gateway mix as I intend to use it to introduce people to the sound of house, though they may not like it for one reason or another. Time will tell if it works or not".
"Done in one hit on 2xTechnics 1210s on 18/10/2020".

Eksish is an artist who has become synonymous with emerging talent on the deep minimal & techno scene. Her style involves conceptualizing loopy minimal techno that is influenced by the sounds of eastern & western Europe. She had previously shared the stage with the likes of Zip, Raresh, Oshana, Butch, Digby, Magda & Jonas Kopp. Over the last few years, her sets have taken her to countries such as Germany, Sweden & Poland with performances at the famous kit kat club in Berlin & Laika in Stockholm. Thank you Eksish, wicked mix.
Here's what she had to say about the mix:
"I have recorded this mix on a cold evening of September whilst drinking red wine in my living room. This mix is a journey through 4x4 loopy minimal techno sounds, and whilst it starts it eases you in, it certainly moves more towards more of a peak time set half way through. I also wanted to give the listeners a bit of a sneak peak of what they can expect from my residency at Swu.fm."

Stepping through this time is London based Folarin Fadairo. One of the Higher State residents, Folarin takes us on a journey through the deep with bumping, minimal Detroit inspired House and Techno. Smooth like butter and a tracklist to die for, he brings to the surface some forgotten gems that you'll be peeping for on Discogs.
Some words from Folarin:
"The mix really came about from boredom during lockdown hence the title Rona. Early into lockdown I started a new job where I’d never met any of my colleagues and I, along with the rest of the nation had restrictions on movements so found it a bit of a struggle and I guess I found solace in music amongst other things. Took a while to actually get it done but happy with the finished product. As with most of my mixes, the mood starts off upbeat and gradually gets darker as it progresses. Tracks are varied, earliest release is 1996 and the most recent May this year. All vinyl so excuse the occasional crackle!"

Based in Bombay India, Synthetic Feeling steps in for HS Radio. Smooth bumping grooves with some dancefloor classics. Perfect for working, chilling and of course, dancing.
About Synthetic Feeling and his mix:
"Synthetic Feeling is a moniker I've been using for a few years since returning to Bombay, India where I used to DJ fairly frequently at different bar or club nights. I've been DJing on and off in various cities for over a decade after being inspired by dance floor experiences that spanned the clubs and warehouses of Philly, Brooklyn, Berlin, London and so many other places.
Musically, I've spent the past few years digging and exploring music across the spectrum, trying to break away from any specific genre limitations and create journeys. This mix comes at the weird time of having been in lockdown for months on end, facing some technical issues and wondering when nightlife will return and what it will look like. Given the state of the world right now, music feels like one of the only forms of solace.
DJing has always been a side hustle for me, but a form of pure expression and love that I hope I'm able to share through this mix. As an Indian artist I find there are a lot of limitations in terms of what is commercially viable here, and my selections are a way to showcase my own nomadic background, the wide range of music that I've been exploring, and break away from any pigeonholes. It contains mostly old favourites and some eclectic newer selections. Hope you enjoy it!
