Nikki is the founder of The Happy Elephant, a candle company that started in her bedroom after she was laid off from the hospitality industry during covid. What began as experimenting with soy candles at home turned into a full small business selling online, hosting candle-making classes, and eventually opening her own storefront in Troy.

We talk about starting a business from scratch, building community through markets and pop-ups, opening a shop while pregnant, and what it really takes to keep going when you’re figuring it out as you go.
