Bring it back! Bring it back!
Seriously though, I wish there were a way for smaller podcasts to generate enough income to make continuing to do their podcast more worthwhile. This is such a wonderfully delightful and funny podcast and I’m sad I’ve only learned about it now. If ya’ll have been considering doing a reunion ep, consider this a sign.
Definitely Not Max
What a gem !! I found it late!
This podcast is absolutely FAN-Friggin-TASTIC! Hands down, one of the best podcasts I’ve found since violently falling down a rabbit hole for my much-needed nostalgia fix. So sad I never knew about it years ago. An 8-year run though!!! Gives me so much content to listen to. These voices and content give me so much joy. I hope they all come back soon - there are so many other movies and series to cover. Best podcast ever for 80/90s kids. Love it

Don’t go!
I just discovered this podcast and I love it! Such a good balance with the hosts and I love their movie/show picks. Stuff I would pick and stuff I wouldn’t, always entertaining. They are funny and I love when they make each other crack up. Their commentary is critical but they don’t take themselves too seriously. Love!

Good but More Politics
Good podcast but it's unfortunate that they just can't help but to discuss politics. I followed this podcast because it has so many episodes about movies I saw when I was a kid. They have great things to say and it's fun, but i've had enough of listening to the liberal agenda. If i wanted to listen to someones polital opinions, I would go find a podcast about politics.

I’m so bummed this is gone!
I just discovered your podcast, I love it, and am binge listening. I wish you could bring it back!

Highly entertaining & educational
I stumbled upon this podcast years back and am glad I did. They share the same passion and admiration for movies and sense of humor that I have, and I cannot stress how much I love this podcast. Check out the Speed episode! The Batman (1989) episode! And you will see what I’m talking about. Actually scratch that, do like me and just find a movie you like that they’ve covered and go from there. Thank you Carlos, Donna and Chris! You guys have inspired me to do this with my friends as well. Watch out! We are coming for your spot!

My absolute favorite podcast
I loved this show and these three people so much! Ive been a fan since around 2016 and I have laughed so hard I cried so many times…and ugly cried a few times, too, now that I think of it. Thank you so much for all of the memories, inside jokes, and always making my day more enjoyable. I hope the three of you are doing amazingly in your new adventures!

F**king Phenomenal!
If you do nothing else today, listen to this podcast just once, I promise you won’t regret it. I’m definitely late to writing this review, but I wanted to write it anyways, even though the show has ended, because it meant so much to me (as I’m sure it meant did to a lot of others), so bare with me - this is going to be a lengthy review. I’m also a little late in the game discovering this podcast - I only started listening to HDYR in 2020! Amidst the pandemic chaos and boredom, I stumbled upon this lovely podcast while looking for something Muppet related lol. The first episode I watched was the Muppets Take Manhattan ep, and I quickly fell in love. I’ve always been a big movie person (Cinema Minor, in fact), and have watched a fair share of “older” movies, older in quotations, as a lot of these I didn't grow up with but knew really well, because I’m 24. And what really hooked me on this podcast were the hosts - Chris, Donna, and Carlos - because more than the selection of movies, more than their own analysis of the movies, more than the history or impact these movies had on my own life, their banter, their conversation, their stories, the bond they have: that’s what makes this podcast great. Y’alls humor is absolutely hilarious to me - I cant count how many times I’ve died laughing while listening to them. The stories y’all tell are just so amazing, that no matter how small, it makes me feel like I’m getting to know all of you without ever having met you. Donna’s laugh is one of the most pure sounds in the world, Chris’s storytelling skills are just phenomenal, Carlos’s commentary and jokes crack me up every time. I find myself listening to episodes for movie’s I’ve never even seen just to listen to their amazing conversation. And I think I owe a lot of my sanity, my ability to not completely break down because of the pandemic, to this podcast, because it allowed me to escape reality for a moment - something we all look to movies and media to do. I find myself watching some of these movies I haven't seen before just to listen to their episode about it. And while I’m definitely sad the podcast ended, I know there are so many episodes I haven't listened to yet, and even with the ones I have, I’ll listen to again and again, like a great tv show, because I know I’ll enjoy them, no matter how many times I hear them. So, to close, I just wanted to thank Chris, Donna, and Carlos for making this podcast, for being a source of positivity in the world, and for being who they are, with each other, for however many episodes I have left to listen to, and re-listen to after that.

Bo-Bo Nastayy Retro Reviews
I just found out about this podcast relatively recently. Mostly very funny. At times you can tell the jokes are trying way too hard, IE Chris, but for the most part it keeps me very entertained through out the work day. And you can tell Chris puts in work with research prior to each episode. And I also share a lot in common with the two male hosts. I grew up in Naperville too, much like Chris, and we’re probably similar in age. I also went to Depaul university, much like Carlos. Have a similar taste in movies too, particularly the formative movies of Top Gun but especially Batman 89. That said the only knock I have on the podcast, is the females on the show aren’t all that funny, usually pretty cringe and their opinions on movies are a little sketch. But also at a certain point the identity politics and SJW pandering or virtue signaling gets to be a bit much. Like ok, we get it, you guys a women or baristas at a Starbucks, spare us your libtard political views, please. Keep it about the movies we remember from kids in the 80s and 90s, please. Either way, run it back. Re-rack. Bring the pod back. So many vintage seminal 80s and 90s movies didn’t get touched upon. Wouldn’t mind their opinion on some more modern ones as well, IE The Dark Knight Trilogy etc. Still have to try Bo-Bo Nasty Style sometime.

Good but
After listening to the last episode and how brain washed the three hosts are with Covid is sad. Shut your tv’s off and live your life. Almost comical that grown ups live in insane fear like this. Enjoy your “lives” the way you are, I’m in California, in Los Angeles, I PROMISE you, it’s not what you think and not what you’ve been told. I will continue to enjoy mine. No mask, no precautions, working 7 days a week....must be pure luck for me huh?

True Crime Kent Recommended and I like!
Ok jumping into your podcast for the Child’s Play episode because I still to this day (and I’m 37) and I have nightmares about him and I hate dolls. I haven’t even finished listening but I’m excited. So sounds like you’re from Chicago and it was filmed there! The first one at least. I look forward to the rest of the episode and listening to more. I love scary movies!! But I like that you guys revisit a bunch of old 80s and 90s popular films.

So fun!
I would love to be a part of this, they have so much fun and really pull you in. The stories especially the Chris chronicles are AMAZING and make the show so relatable. I love Donna’s take on the movies and how she relates to the guys. Carlos you had me at I make the syrup talk. Love you guys!!

Too many political opinions
Female presenter thinks she’s quite informed on current events. It’s obvious she is not. The political commentary drags this show to a screeching halt, no one is here for your thoughts on race relations. Why would you think they are?

Love this
The chemistry of the hosts is amazing, the research is great I’ve learned things about movies that I thought I knew inside and out! And the hosts are hilarious!! I love Chris’s funny childhood memories, and how they are able to effortlessly be funny! Also Donna is great and Carlos is awesome as well! Do yourself a favor and listen to this it’s the vibe I strive for when I podcast, laid back, funny, and insightful!!

Favorite trip down memory lane
I am late to the party but I love “Hey, Do You Rmember...?” Donna, Carlos and especially Chris are amazing guides to touchstone movies of our youth. It is even better than the toilet death of Elvis re-enacted by first graders.

Can’t help but enjoy.
Ok. Never done this, but I originally gave this podcast one star. Despite obvious political differences, I can't help but love you guys. As a fellow midwestern’er who I think is roughly the same age I can’t help but smile at the similar upbringings and love for Batman and the pop culture of the 80’s & 90’s. I feel like if we grew up together we could have been friends. Just please try as best as possible to keep politics outta this bad boy. I think we may have more in common then not. Good job guys.

Photographic Memory?
A) Love the podcast. B) Possible movie suggestions, in no particular order: Coming to America, Boomerang, Do the Right Thing, Beverly Hills Cop, House Party, Purple Rain, The Last Dragon... are you seeing a theme here? C) Am I the only one who questions Chris’ memory? I can’t even remember what I was doing on the day I saw Parasite (2019) for the first time, and I loved that movie. Yet this guy can somehow remember that in 1987, while watching Harry and the Hendersons, he had on the same plaid shirt as the kid in the movie... except Chris’ shirt was missing the third button from top and his stepdad wouldn’t stop teasing him about it. So his mom comes in from the kitchen and explains that she found the missing button on the floor in his room when she went in to put the laundry away, and that she’d sew it back on as soon as she finishes cooking the roast that she bought from the supermarket a few days prior. Great attention to detail, but there’s no way his memory is that good. Nope, not buying it all.

Hey Do You Remember the little rascals? What about the movie “Holes”? Asking for ... myself. But this is a great podcast , glad I discovered it in these C-19 times. It’s getting my through my day. Thanks 🙏🏿

Great movie podcast
This podcast is really great. I’ve gone on to listen to episodes from movies I haven’t seen before because they are so entertaining I’d rather listen to them summarize and talk about it than watch it. I was skeptical about listening to the Little Giants episode but I’m glad I did because it was one of the funniest episodes I’ve listened to. More specifically it has a quote that randomly pops into my head and always makes me laugh “I haven’t seen running like that since your mom left us” I look forward to future episodes and hope they talk about Bring it On at some point.

You’re not gonna learn a lot or even laugh a lot, but it’s a real fun podcast. Campy and fun and I definitely recommend it

Rather foul-mouthed, but also deep, insightful, and funny!
It’s got as much swearing as “My Cousin Vinny,” but it’s got very insightful reflection on writing, art, and storytelling in movies, and what works really well, and why. A lot of research and thinking goes into the discussion held during each episode. Also a lot of laughs from “unintentionally got into innocent trouble” childhood stories. Recommended episodes: “The Goonies,” “The Karate Kid,” “Terminator 2.”

It’s Time
Stumbled upon this podcast randomly, and have made my way through all the episodes of movies I’ve seen multiple times. For the first time ever, I actually laughed out loud while driving... during the Karate Kid episode, specifically the League of Extraordinary Gentleman theme song. BUUUUT, speaking of Karate Kid, now that Cobra Kai is heading to Netflix, it is time to finally talk about Part 2, 3, AND Next. (They’re all on Netflix) Please. :)

Pretty good but....
The movies they cover- awesome, I was big fan of most of them. Chris’ side stories don’t even bother me like it does coming from other podcasters, so funny & open! Carlos tends to say exactly what i’m thinking in the moment, so relatable. But... I hate to say this... it’s Donna... her forced fake laughter, sometimes I feel like she plays dumb in attempt to be funny but it just makes her unlikable. Most of her reasons for liking or disliking a movie or insights are usually “I didn’t like it at all because it scared me so bad as a kid” but you’re an adult now... some episodes I can’t even finish solely because of her over the top reactions / dragged out laughing. I get it the three are lifelong friends & no one wants to address complaints or leave anyone but I feel like she pulls it all down. Other than that keep em coming I always have a smile plastered on my face.

Wacky but insightful!
I seriously love these guys. Listening to them talk about movies is like hanging around with some good pals telling stories. But they also know a lot about what they’re talking about. Chris, especially, always does some research into the backstory about the movie beforehand and can help ground the discussion to more realism occasionally-which is probably a good idea considering he’s the one most likely to tell some out-there, wacky story from his childhood 😆 Donna and Carlos are no slouches either, but Chris’ stories are amazingly detailed. I have no idea how he remembers all of that! Anyway, I’ve slammed through their back catalog and while they do “evolve” some with the show, it’s mostly that they become more comfortable with it, cause even their earliest episodes were really fun to listen to and it’s so cool to ride along on this journey with them -and talk about fun nostalgic movies to boot!

Disappointed in MLK episode
I’m late to this podcast but I’m incredibly disappointed in the female hosts input to the Mortal Kombat episode. The two other hosts legitimately seem to enjoy the franchise but she lacks any substance and seems to take the entire thing as a joke. For most of us who grew up with the game and movie it was a huge part of our childhood. A bit more preparation woulda been nice or pick a topic your more into

Favorite Podcast
Definitely my favorite podcast! I grew up in the northern Chicagoland suburbs as well and am around the same age so absolutely relate to a lot of the stories and memories of the times. The show feels instantly familiar and like sitting in on a conversation with friends which is welcome during the workday since I’m out on the road working remotely. Keep up the good work and hope for many more years of this show!

I’m on board!!!
My first listen. I love it. Made me laugh out loud so many times. The most relatable team for movie podcasts I’ve found! EDIT: Adding to my review after my binge. Chris is incredible .he can remember the most intricate details from his child hood. I love the stories he tells and I imagine him as this smart , movie obsessed hyper kid who was probably so much fun to be around but I’m sure the leader of any group of kids. I like Carlos and Donna they do their part in the show Chris is the star of the show

Don’t Tell My Boss, But I Listen to this Show Every Day at Work
I listen to this show every day and will continue to do so until I've exhausted the backlog of episodes. Chris, Donna, and Carlos have been doing this show for years and have been friends for even longer than that. After having listened to enough episodes, you, the listener, start to feel like you’re old friends with the three of them too. I’ll listen, even if I haven’t seen the movie, or revisit films I haven’t seen in years just based on having listened to an old backlog episode. Seriously, if you’re into movie podcasts, I can’t recommend this one enough.
