Today we're talking about use of force and the experience of going through a critical incident where force is used. These areas are regularly misunderstood by outsiders. So one of my goals here is for you to hear use of force explained to an outsider like me so that you can better explain it when you're on the hot seat and someone is asking you why did that cop used such and such level of force.
My guest is Captain Keith Falkner. I picked him because he has quite a bit of personal experience with critical incidents and also because he helps train officers in our department on the use of force. Listen closely as Keith sprinkles in a bit of his own firsthand experience right after a violent encounter and shares wisdom about how much to involve your family in the healing process.
