Rochelle Hemmingway - "I SLAY, WE SLAY" Channeling Your Inner Okoye and Leading Out Loud!
"I officially retired on 1 Sep 2021 after serving 30 years in the United States Air Force. I served as an Independent Duty Medical Technician, First Sergeant, Inspector General Program Manager, Medical Group Superintendent and Command Chief Master Sergeant. I was able to overcome many obstacles and barriers as a black woman in chaotic, unconventional and dynamic environments. I served as a Command Chief Master Sergeant at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota during the onset of the pandemic, social and racial injustices and significant changes in the mission. I created a lifelong hashtag mantra called #SLAY, as a way to motivate and inspire myself and others to authentically show up as the best version of themselves. I attached meaningful context to each letter of the word of adopted philosophies that I applied during my career and compel others to do the same; “S” stands for Stay Ready to Be Ready, “L” stands for Lead Out Loud, “A” stands for A Sense of Family and the “Y” stands for You Are Built To Last. I am now the founder and CEO of #SLAY TO SUCCE$$, a professional coaching business for high achieving women who desire to Kill It, to Dominate It and to Nail It, without sacrificing their health, careers, relationships and happiness. I’m on a mission to help women increase visibility, embrace empowerment and climb up the ladder of success that they desire and deserve."  Talking Points 0:00 - Get fired up! 2:30 - #SLAY to Success - My thoughts on the book 8:00 - Who would play you in a movie? 11:05 - What's one lesson you learned from a great leader, and one lesson from a poor leader 17:08 - Proudest AF moment 32:19 - S - stay ready to be ready; preparation is key 33:05 - I stopped waiting; just started doing 35:55 - L - Leadership/lead out loud 36:27 - check on people; mini conversations; developing relationships 37:07- go out there; don’t shrink yourself 37:34 - don’t take a back seat; hands on the wheel 38:08 - A - a sense of family 39:08 - everyone is a person; everyone is somebody’s somebody 47:23 - People are fearful of people who have & own their personnel power 54:51 - strip away all titles, who are you? 58:40 - Y - you are built to last - The fight against COVID

'Faith Restored' - How the Vet Community Saved an Airman in Need w/Amn Smiley/Live @BRCC Niceville!
(This episode was recorded live at Black Rifle Coffee Company Niceville - full video on Spotify or Youtube. Special guest host: SSgt Mike Rosa) "My name is Airman Kwasi Smiley and I grew up In Hamilton Ohio. My career is in the Air Force but I’m most passionate about Space and understanding the Universe. My short term goal is to start school and my long term goal is to be the best dad I can be. What I’m most thankful for right now in life is my family and when all is said and done, I’d like to remembered for just being "me" - being myself." Kwasi and his family were on their very first PCS across the U.S. as a family. Trucks were loaded and babies were crying yet they were having a good time and excited about their move from New Mexico to Florida. Half way through the trip a group of professional criminals hot-wired their vehicle attached to their U-Haul, and stole all of their belongings. Personal documents, heirlooms, furniture, pictures, electronics...gone in the blink of an eye.  His supervision acted fast and created a go-fund-me for $10K. After friends and family desperately tried to spread their story around - Eventually this news hit the infamous AMN/NCO/SNCO Facebook page and his story went viral. Organizations like the Eglin First Sergeant Council, EveryWarrior.org, and Black Rifle Coffee Company (Niceville) chipped in and his family walked away with $15K. Although this doesn't replace everything - the love and support from the Veteran community was felt by the Smileys and it helped tremendously. It's what being a "Veteran" is all about.  Time Stamps 0:00 - Intro 4:45 - First PCS 5:00 - Entire U-Haul disappeared 5:48 - He noticed U-Haul gone 8:27 - Camera shows truck circling parking lot; truck blocked camera; one guy jumps out breaks the window climbed in and drives off 12:10 - Hopeful just electronics taken but everything taken 13:15 - truck not found 17:35 - People rally around him willing to help 18:57- Set up a Go Fund Me 22:25 - over abundance of support 23:54 - Tens of thousands trying to help. 24:30 - Feel guilty 25:19 - Pay it forward 31:07 - Restored faith
