Lecture 4 | The Captivity Epistles

-31. All four refer to Paul as a prisoner when they were being written. In Colossians Paul majors upon the heresy which was developing in the church – supposed secret knowledge so that the divine spark, trapped within the material body could find its way back to the supreme god. Paul positively presents Christ in relation to God, Creation and the Church of which He is Head. Ephesians outlines our Spiritual Wealth in Christ; the Walk which is required of us and the Spiritual Warfare we must fight. Philippians presents Christ as our Life; our Example; our Goal and our Strength. Philemon is the little Epistle which urges forgiveness and reconciliation to those who have wronged us. There is much to learn here.
