This sermon introduces a study on the First Epistle of John, emphasizing its purpose to provide believers with assurance of their salvation through identifiable marks of grace. The preacher highlights the historical reality of the Incarnation, countering early heresies by affirming Christ's eternal deity and true humanity as witnessed by the apostles. Central to the message is the call for Christians to declare these truths with conviction rather than hesitation, ensuring the integrity of the gospel proclamation. The exposition further defines biblical fellowship not merely as social interaction but as a deep spiritual partnership with God and other believers in His redemptive purposes. Ultimately, the sermon urges the audience to embrace this fullness of joy and actively share the life found in Christ with others.

The heresy of asceticism was a key component of Marcion's rejection of God's physical creation. Forbidding marriage and requiring abstinence from foods are demonic teachings that impugn God's goodness and promote pride. All of God's creation is good and intended to be received with thanksgiving. True spirituality comes from a pure heart aligned with Scripture, not from man-made rules or self-imposed denials. Believers are called to enjoy God's gifts while remaining grounded in the Word and prayer.

Finally, know and never doubt the sovereign authority of Christ over all things. Remember that much of the heresies the church had to deal with in history were Trinitarian heresies. Much of them focused on Christ, either denying His humanity, or denying His deity. Therefore, hear God the Father's words in Matthew 17 "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!", and truly listen to Him. Hear Jesus' declaration in Matthew 28 that all authority has been given to Him in Heaven and on earth, and then go and obey Him!

Being baptized is NOT being born again, and being "born of water" is NOT being water baptized!! This message properly defines the phrases "kingdom of God," "born again," "born of the spirit" and "born of water" found at John 3:3-8. The sermon defines the Kingdom of God as a singular spiritual reality accessible only through supernatural regeneration, refuting dual-covenant heresies and literalist interpretations. It argues that being born again involves both water and spirit, identifying the 'water' not as baptism but as the Word of God which cleanses and regenerates the believer. The speaker emphasizes that entrance into Christ's kingdom requires faith in Jesus Christ alone, resulting in a transformed nature characterized by love for truth and fellow believers. This spiritual rebirth distinguishes citizens of God's kingdom from the world, marking a transition from death to life through the incorruptible seed of Scripture. The message concludes by affirming that salvation is entirely a work of the Holy Spirit applying the Gospel to the heart.

It is very easy to get the church fathers wrong. From thinking that their doctrine was better or more pure, or that their proximity to Christ and the apostles gave them greater authority, there are many ways to go astray in considering their proper place in the church's history. And while Christ has used many men to lead his church, the primary means that He has used to mature and cleanse his bride is the leading of the Holy Spirit working through the power of His Word. One of the central concepts of the church is its corporate nature and that the church is Christ's bride, who is being made ready for him. But because we are often tempted to focus on individuals and their personal contributions and achievements, the church fathers often become a distraction from the corporate nature of the church and how Christ has made it more mature in both doctrine and practice. In this episode, we try to provide a biblical framework for thinking about God's love and care for the church without putting the wrong emphasis on the people he used. We also discuss how the church fathers are often used to make bad arguments about the church and its doctrine, particularly by the Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox churches. Even the term "church father" gets used far too liberally by many, with the Roman Catholic church recognizing people as fathers as late as the eighth century (and, of course, they choose to elevate those whose writings support their favorite heresies). The church fathers deserve honor as the ones whom God used to lead the early church. But they do not deserve greater honor than other leaders who came after them. God has and is using different men to le

The sermon explores Psalm 23 by arguing that the Lord shepherds believers primarily through the church and its ordained leaders. It emphasizes that Sunday worship serves as a practical means of spiritual restoration, feeding the soul with Christ-centered teaching rather than worldly entertainment. The preacher highlights the critical role of elders in protecting the flock from heresy and guiding them toward righteousness for God's glory. Trusting in this communal structure ensures believers receive abundant grace and protection against the fears of death and evil. Ultimately, the message calls Christians to rely on the church as the normative vehicle for experiencing God's goodness and mercy throughout their lives.

Believers must remain vigilant against apostasy and false teachers who propagate demonic doctrines. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 highlights how individuals depart from the faith by following deceitful spirits and developing seared consciences that lack moral sensitivity. Spiritual error is not merely human disagreement but a supernatural battle between the Holy Spirit and demonic forces. The churchmust reject secular naturalism and maintain a firm stance on biblical truth, even when confronting harsh realities about heresy. Humility and alertness will preserve the integrity of the gospel against insidious spiritual deception.
