this is great for teens. i listen to this evey night before i go to bed. i also enjoys how it covers lots of (as some would say) disturbing topics, although i would say it is for 12+. i definitely recommend it for tweens and teens who need something to relate to

SEB 😽😼😻
So relatable and funny. When u listen to it you get consumed by the story and feel real emotions during the episodes. Not to mention I’m in eighth grade too, and was taught many life lessons about how your actions effect people around you. And other things like how to stay around people who like you for who you are. I love it so much and I wish I could marry seb. Sadly he’s gay. But SEB if that changes hit me up 🤙

So sweet and well done. Wish there were more shows like this. I remember tiny details from it, like the sound of a shopping cart rolling on the concrete.

dear, jg dad:
if you had basic observation skills, you'd know that the podcast is clearly listed as explicit. don't play explicit podcasts acts if you don't want to hear cursing?

Middle School Teacher
As a middle school teacher I just want to say that this show is crazy enough to be true! The voices and attitudes are so familiar, and the acting is great. Thank you so much!

Came here to beg for more
As a 40 yr old woman I’m a bit taken aback by how much I NEED MORE of this pod. I just binged the whole 1st season today @ work after hearing an ep featured on The Truth pod & they played the first episode. I was hooked. I know I’m years late to the game but is there any chance we can get a season 2? Everything from the script, to the actors, to the wording & emotion conveyed & spoken REALLY brought back some nostalgia. You guys encompassed & embodied perfectly what a middle schooler is feeling & dealing with. Then to add on social media to your “game” & way of life….. I don’t know how kids these days navigate all this & then some. Great job, Well done, bravo, & I can’t speak highly enough how well this was produced. As a 40 yr old woman who’s listening all day while she mows lawns for 12 hours, I wanted to say you brought me right back into those years, & I was fully immersed.

LOVED IT!
I'm way more of a reader than a listener, and yet... I kinda binged this podcast! I don't think I've ever binge-listened to (or even watched) anything before! I have to give it 5 stars. It's also totally cringey and makes me SO HAPPY to have my mean, uncomfortable, lonely, sad, confusing middle school years behind me. It gets better, y'all! Being a grown-up is what ya make of it and it's WAY better than being a kid IMHO (I wish more grown-ups dropped that on me as a youngster). HUGE thanks to the one seventh grade teacher who did! Hearts and sparkles!

Amazing
I enjoyed this so much! As a teacher and a parent of a almost middle schooler, it was important but incredibly entertaining at the same time. More please!!!!

Wow! Loved.
Loved this podcast and story. Explores important themes and was so fun to listen to. I loved the how it encourages people to be themselves and to lean into their weird. Honestly something that I wish I’d decided to do myself in middle school.

Don’t sleep on this one!
I tried this on a whim and I was blown away! I listened to all the episodes in 1 day. This is surprising because I’ve never been a big fan of fiction podcasts, but the story has so many twists and turns that I found myself immediately hooked. It’s about jr high but it’s def not for kids. Listen - you won’t regret it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I absolutely ADORE this podcast. Perfectly sums up middle school.

Obsessed
27-year old who is obsessed with this! I listen to it while I work and it is so immersive. Since I saw the dad rate it 1-star for the “f-bomb”, they do make the announcement that Here Lies Me is for mature audiences. Any parents wanting their children to watch this, here’s another reminder. Great podcast!!

Interesting perspective
As a middle school principal, I see these issues daily. They were presented with great story telling. I wish we had all the resources as a society to help kids walk through this season better.

Why am I so addicted to this pod??
I’m a 41 year old mom and cannot explain why I’m so obsessed with Here Lies Me! Maybe it’s the top notch writing, the amazing actors, or the infectious drums, but whatever it is I NEED MORE!

Impressive!
Really impressive cast, great and important storylines. Entertaining but also has a lot of value for teens.

Good, but…
I have taught eighth grade for twenty-eight years. The characters in this podcast feel very realistic, and the story is entertaining. But oh my gosh- most of the teachers are such buffoons. This kind of trope harms an already much maligned profession. I really think the creators can do better. I know it’s all about the kids’ experience, but are most kids really, in 2022, being taught predominantly by stupid, insensitive bigots?

Hooked
I am two episodes in and am hooked! I had forgotten how middle school was and now appreciate the flashback considering my daughter enters middle school next year. Can’t wait to hear the next episode!

Truly loved this!
A lovely combination of delightful and dark - just like middle school. Really recommend!

F bomb in the first four seconds
Put this on for my eighth grader. Immediate f bomb with no language warning. Really great if you want to put garbage in front of your kids.

Do you like vocal fry?
Then this is for you. Grating, gravelly, croaking. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. How do people who speak like Hillary Frank get jobs in broadcasting? Get a vocal coach. Stop watching the Kardashians.

So glad I’m done with middle school
This show is so funny! It’s definitely on point about middle school and definitely makes me happy that I survived. My current issues don’t seem so bad after listening to life from the point of view of a middle school girl.

terrific
hope there's a season two!

Had me cringing and crying
Immediately put me back in my awkward middle school years where I didn’t know anything about sex but somehow everyone else did. Always saying the wrong thing or nothing at all. Oh Noa, so relatable. I listened to this all in a week and have sent to a friend already- I wish there was more!

Bringing middle school to the fore
Middle school was rough. This is a brilliantly done fictional story about a few kids’ experiences. The depiction of platonic love is beautiful.

A creative podcast for all ages
I’m 42 and this brings me back to my middle school years but updated. The story is told creatively and poignantly.

Bingeworthy
Binged this during my quarantine. I love Hillary Frank and was an early listener of her previous podcast when my kids were toddlers so it was kind of like coming full-circle now that they’re in middle school. Not gonna lie, I thought the concept was weird, but I’m so glad I gave it a chance. Very engaging story full of been-there, done that moments. Don’t want to give anything away but my heart broke for Noa during that first scene when O breaks the news. I guess we all had an O in middle school.

Mostly great!
This show captures so much of what makes middle school pivotal - and painful! The writing and acting for Noah’s character is so spot on that it’s almost unbearable at times (in a good way)! My only criticism is that the actor who plays Seb (while very compelling and lovable in his performance) sounds much older than the other kids, and (as a former middle school teacher) I don’t know a single middle school boy who is that emotionally evolved. He was a bit too poised to be believable, which I found distracting at times. It goes much darker than you might expect, and I love the ambiguity throughout; it keeps your mind and heart engaged!

The sound design is perfect and the story is so immersive. I look forward to new episodes.

Surprising- Love it
It’s been ages since I was in middle school, which is why it’s so surprising that a story like this would have me on the edge of my seat, waiting for more. It takes you through the ups and downs of growing up, finding friends, having crushes and in the middle of everything, a town mystery. You truly don’t know what’s going to happen next! Instead of a tired storyline, characters embrace change and use it to grow. Hands down, one of the best pieces of fiction I’ve seen. I’m so excited for the last chapter! 💕💕

realistic
as an 8th grader. THIS SHOW LITERALLY SEEMS SO REAL. like i could imagine this actually happening and the slang, tone of voices and word choices. on pointtttttt.

A great surprise
I never would have normally listened to something like this, but the series was featured on The Truth. I’m very happy I gave it a shot, the first episode had me hooked. I haven’t been in middle school in almost 20 years, but I related so much to these kids. From being ousted by a “friend” group, to having embarrassing pictures shared, and having friends become more “experienced” than you, I totally feel for Noa and relate to her immensely. If you were ever an awkward middle schooler, I would recommend you give this pod a try!

Engaging and thoughtful
Wonderful writing and great, believable performances. Subject matter can be difficult, but humor abounds. Laughing and wincing as I listen.

Brilliant
This series does an amazing job capturing the difficult feelings (fear, loneliness, embarrassment, overwhelm, etc.) that kids experience during middle school. Their interactions with each other are alternately awkward, mean, or validating. The main character is very relatable and likeable, and also has a couple of tragic flaws. A very moving story.

Don’t hesitate!
I love audio dramas, but this is not a genre I would have chosen myself. However, I listened to it when it popped up in The Truth’s feed and it is delightful. Have subscribed, and will gobble up future episodes!

Better than a podcast… this will be a tv series for sure! SO GOOD!!!
I was a little hesitant .. I’m normally a true crime listener, but enjoy “the Truth” binges ever so often. So tried out this recommendation. Just a 5 min. Listen I am hooked! Brilliant! Girl! I’m sure you are in for a ride! This is beautifully written … honestly I do not know how to express how impressed and wowed by this work. People! Enjoy this listen… it’s a treat.

Hilarious! I started listening due to HSPVA involvement, but as someone who teaches 8th grade AND someone who has been an 8th grader I love this show! Not only believable but also keeps me laughing. I intended to listen to one episode to show support but now I can’t stop with this storyline. My niece who is in the 8th grade loves it and has shown it to all of her classmates as well!

So good!
I knew it would be good after loving Longest Shortest Time but I was a little dubious about the content. But my fear was unfounded. What an amazing show with great voice actors, plot, and characters. I love it!
