Cutting Edge Critical Care Podcast
This is my go to podcast during my commute to work. It is always engaging, makes me think, and helps get me in a good head space for my shift. They do a great job diversifying their content and always bringing new things to the table, including their new “Around the World” series. I don’t know of another podcast that has made as much of an effort to transform and better our community to the extent they have. I can’t wait to hear more. -Whitney

Fantastic content, well delivered
As a new paramedic, HLTH has been a fantastic source for expanding my clinical knowledge beyond the fundamental education that I obtained in school. Great content delivered in an engaging manner. I highly recommended it for new paramedics or any clinician in the EM and critical care field.

Brilliant
Absolutely amazing podcast, they dive into the uncomfortable topics of medicine that most may stray away from. It’s is apparent the do plenty of research before each podcast, and put alot of hard work and effort in. They are 100% for the prehospital community. 🤟🏽

Short time listener, long time learner
I didn’t even know what a podcast was until a few years ago. I slowly started listening to HLTH on jogs, if I was on a trail by myself because I didn’t even own headphones. Dan, Mike, Amanda, and their guests are intelligent, fun to listen to, and cover a wide array of topics at a depth that can be understood without too much extra research. I appreciate their commitment to dispensing hems and medical knowledge through multiple learning platforms. Keep up the good work!

A great FoamED podcast
As a former Emergency Room Nurse for 5 years and freshly minted now Surgical ICU nurse. I have found that in addition to these podcasts being enjoyable to listen to, they help reinforce and provide the extra depth in knowledge of the patient conditions i see on a daily basis and now require to provide the level of care my patients deserve. The wide variety of topics and including both medical, provider improvement and transport considerations, keep it interesting. #Crash&Learn24

Something for everyone.
HLTH never disappoints. The content is for everyone. I feel as though I am in the same room and participating in the conversation. I listen for the medical content but alway have a desire to be a better person and am grateful for my situation. Episode 116 with Daniel Panaflor reminded me what we are all in medicine to do, help make people better and it doesn’t matter if we have the best education or secondhand books. I can’t wait to hear about medicine in other countries. I appreciate the knowledge and reminders to be humble. Thanks HLTH.

Great content
This series is well presented with technical expertise and humor. Improvement idea: do not bring up the closing music over your guests’ final comments. Keep up the great work.

LOVE it!
I’m a 2 year medic in a slow rural agency. I am slowly making my way into the CC arena and thankfully found this podcast! I love that they break things into small pieces so I can understand them and put the info into my practice! Thank you!

A must listen for any pre-hospital/in hospital provider
I found these guys a few months ago and binged every single episode. These guys and gals changed my perspective on pre-hospital emergency care in a time when I was struggling to know why I was doing EMS. I still listen for the knowledge and passion each of them has for the craft of EMS and hospital emergency care. I recommend this show to all of my EMS friends.

Must listen for critical care providers and more
I listen to a lot of podcasts including several in the medical/critical care world. Heavy Lies the Helmet is hands-down my favorite. As a critical care provider they bring a fantastic balance of education, humor, and information while being wholly accessible and relatable. The topics vary and are all applicable to flight medicine but can absolutely be applied to all areas of medicine. If you haven’t listened to them yet, you should start.

Engaging and actually beneficial to practice
I’ve listened to quite a few medical podcasts (critical care nurse here) and this one is by far the most interesting, engaging and applicable to practice. Wanting to hop over into the flight world, I have found this podcast to be invaluable. I really enjoy listening and learning! Thanks for all the hard work you put into this podcast to make it available to all of us!

Great info for the pre hospital provider!!
Mike, Brian, and Dan do a phenomenal job! I’ve been listening to them for the past three years. And thanks to their content I was able to obtain my F-PC and my C-NPT. If your looking for fun, easy to listen to content that will up your game. HLTH is one of the best resources going.

Game changer for EMS learning
I have never been really good at learning from books, I like to hear experiences and different points of view, this podcast has helped me understand difficult concepts. I’m excited to learn more on my way to becoming a flight paramedic!

Great info for new flyers
As a new flight nurse (Air Force) and experienced ER nurse, this is a great place to get the knowledge to go beyond what we’re taught, our experience and beyond what’s in our EFB (electronic flight bag…. Basically all our SOPs on an iPad). It makes you think critically and I love that it has practical applications no matter what supplies you fly with.

Great Podcast
There are a lot of very educational podcasts available but I really enjoy listening to Heavy Lies the Helmet. They have very timely and relatable topics and the information can be used by any transport provider. Always a good review of things you know with tips on things you might not.

If you work in health care this is who you need to listen to
Just like the title says, these guys bring EBM with in-depth explanation and breakdown for even a dumb little ground medic like my self. These guys are fantastic, they are my daily listen!

What more could you ask for?
Amazing content, evidence-based discussions full of pertinent topics, realistic application, and engaging material - and to top it off you get credit (CEs) for listening?! Amazing. I’m a big fan and so glad I have this resource to help me in my flight career!

Amazing content + CEs while you drive home!
I LOVE this channel! I recommend it to all of my friends and colleagues. Now that I have my CFRN and I need more CEs I will be subscribing to the CME Collective so I can collect those hours while I’m driving to and from work!

Never Stop Learning
This podcast is as informative as it is entertaining. I’m always engaged. I am also a member of the CME collective so i get CEU for listening. Other forms of CE can be boring and often taught by people who no longer practice nursing or EMS.

Simply the best!
HLTH is by far my favorite EMS/Critical Care podcast I listen to! I am relatively new to critical care and I find their content very informative and easy to listen to. I’d recommend this podcast to anyone in the prehospital setting!
jlowman91
One of the best!
The HLTH Podcast is, by far, one of the best podcasts out there for the critical care provider. As an ED/ICU nurse, I attribute a lot of my learning outside of bedside experience to their podcasts and their guest speakers. Constantly challenging my thinking and providing ample research/reasoning to support their teaching. Always a highlight of my day to get a new podcast update! Thanks y’all! 👍

How can you not love HLTH? After years of working 911 and doing “trips,” I later learned we were doing a version on CCT. Since CCEMTP in 2004, CCTP and FPC in 2019 I’ve learned we (more specifically me) weren’t doing it very well. I’m a career fireman but moonlight (12-50hrs a week) in a very busy Urban 911 system as well as an outside area doing CCT. I do a ton of driving between gigs and these Podcasts are just vital to “keeping up!” I started as a paramedic in 1994 and keeping up with the times is very challenging. Thank you for helping folks (like me) keep up.

Awesome
As an old paramedic and new to flight I have found the brothers compelling with content that is relevant to both my new role as a flight medic and as a seasoned ground medic. Thank you guys for this great platform

Excellent Quality
The quality of this podcast is amazing. It is very well executed; however, I’m your average provider and I do feel as if the content is almost too much of an attempt to be prove clinical intelligence. No doubt these guys are very intelligent, but it comes across in a way that even I, as a care provider, find a bit too verbose.

Like every other clinical HEMS podcast
Good sound quality.

Very well done
My previous life was in commercial radio, so when I try to listen to a lot of podcasts casts the production quality, or lack there of, is something I pay a lot of attention to. If it’s poor quality, the content doesn’t matter. HLTH has great production coupled with solid content and an easy to digest approach to complex topics. Well worth your time....

Real world Applications for real world situations.
I love the “real world” approach taken by HLTH. A+ for any CC air or ground provider.

Fantastic Content!
With the influx of similar podcasts regarding critical care transport or pre-hospital patient care, it’s hard to find one that maintains my attention like the HLTH. Your team deserves the 5 stars given — keep up the good work!
