Jordan Marie Daniel has made a name for herself both as a runner and a social activist who represents the rights of women and indigenous people. She is Kul Wicasa Lakota and grew up on a reservation in South Dakota, a fourth-generation runner.
Now, she lives in Los Angeles, California, where she founded a grassroots organization that defends Native rights, organizes rallies and marches for social justice and environmental issues, produces documentary films, and runs marathons with markings on her face and body to raise awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
In 2019, she ran the Boston Marathon and at each mile, she said a prayer to help break the silence against violence happening to women in indigenous communities. “It fuels my fire to want to combine my love and passion for running with something bigger,”
We cannot thank Jordan Marie enough for this important conversation during difficult times.
