Welcome to “Healthcare Crossroads” a dialogue on the impact the healthcare system has on people. Edwards Deming, a heralded American engineer said, “every system is perfectly designed to achieve the results that it gets.” In our combined 45+ years of experience in the healthcare system we have seen over and over how the system has achieved results that we would never want for ourselves, our loved ones, or those we are responsible to care for. This podcast is an opportunity to examine the human experience when it encounters the healthcare system from a variety of perspectives. “Healthcare Crossroads” will dive deeper by engaging voices from the patient, provider, and healthcare system. Our goal is to further the dialogue to understand what needs to be improved so we can all get to our work making the experience better – something we all desperately want and need.
To start us off in Episode #1 we’re going to hear from Alyssa who is here with us to share her experience when she tore her hip through childbirth and went on a year-long odyssey in the healthcare system to heal, recover, and move forward.
