SEPT 05 Series: F.I.T. "Faith in Training" Message: Break a Sweat
THE PENDULUM OF FAITHSwing too far toward WORKS: LEGALISMSwing too far toward FAITH: ANTINOMIANISM                                                                           GENUINE FAITH      More than WORDSJames 2:14  14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Can such faith save him?      More than FEELINGS James 2:15-18  15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, stay warm, and be well fed,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith by my works.       More than INTELLECTJames 2:19  19 You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe—and they shudder.      Genuine faith is BELIEF IN ACTION James 1:22-25  22 But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. 25 But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works—this person will be blessed in what he does.

Message Notes • Jeremy Klein (Senior Minister) • August 22, 2021Series: F.I.T. “Faith in Training”Message: Endurance TrainingJames 1:1-12Endure challenges as STRENGTHENING TESTS, which will lead to ETERNAL REWARDHOW TO ENDURE1. ENJOY the JOURNEYJames 1:2-4           2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.2. PRAY for WISDOMJames 1:5-6           5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.3. FOCUS on the CROWNJames 1:9-12         9 Let the brother of humble circumstances boast in his exaltation, 10 but let the rich boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field. 11 For the sun rises and, together with the scorching wind, dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance perishes. In the same way, the rich person will wither away while pursuing his activities.12 Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. “He who has a WHY to live can bear with almost any HOW.”

Message Notes • Jeremy Klein (Senior Minister) • July 4, 2021Series: Life in 4K – Part 2Message: A Life of Purpose“What’s the PURPOSE of this?” I am living for…                                                                                             21 For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.  Philippians 1:21Purpose We’re here to ADVANCE the good news of Jesus12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually advanced the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard, and to everyone else, that my imprisonment is because I am in Christ. 14 Most of the brothers have gained confidence in the Lord from my imprisonment and dare even more to speak the word fearlessly.Philippians 1:12-14 What are you CHAINED TO that you think is keeping you from fulfilling your purpose in life? God is                                                                                                          15 To be sure, some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of good will. 16 These preach out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; 17 the others proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, thinking that they will cause me trouble in my imprisonment. 18 What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice 19 because I know this will lead to my salvation through your prayers and help from the Spirit of Jesus Christ. 20 My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death.21 For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful work for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose. 23 I am torn between the two. I long to depart and be with Christ—which is far better—24 but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.  Philippians 1:15-24 27 Just one thing: As citizens of heaven, live your life worthy of the gospel of Christ. …Philippians 1:271) What is God saying?2) What am I going to do about it?
