Mike Murphy’s lack of basic empathy and thoughts on Palestinians are so disturbing.

I need them to just ask Scott if he’s supporting and going to vote for Trump. He puts himself in the public eye as this wise republican strategist so I think it’s a fair question. All he does is attack Biden in this slimy way that only prop trump up. Just admit Scott that you are a Trump supporter and stop acting like you’re this middle of the road conservative who is actually capable of unbiased analysis

Hacks on tap used to be a great show with valuable insight into political news and how both parties see the issues. The problem has been Mike Murphy (the Republican) who’s insight has increasingly been dead wrong. Mike spent the last 2 years arguing (to the point it became a running joke) that Donald Trump was too damaged politically to become the Republican nominee, despite poll after poll and election after election showing the opposite. Murphy’s political insight comes from a party that is gone and been replaced which makes his insight worthless. To make matters worse for the last 6 months Murphy has demagogued Palestine and people upset with the civilians deaths to supporting Hamas. I’ve listened to this show for years but I can no longer listen or recommend a show with a host so out of touch with reality that he can’t see his own party got what it is and equates people upset with a possible genocide to supporting terrorists.

It’s the autonomy, stupid.

Political hackers at its most insightful and funny. Wish it were bi-weekly. Or, consistently weekly. Charge a fee.

Maggie Haberman was a great guest. More pushback is needed on Murphy and anyone who calls themselves a “conservative”. Bring Maggie back again please.

Love when Murphy, Axe, and Gibbs are all on the show. They are funny and informative. They usually have great guests too. But Scott Jennings is terrible. I couldn't listen to today's show. I had to turn it off.

Gibbs great but Blowhards Murphy and Axe campaigned for Mary Pete hard in 2019. Turned this podcast into an infomercial.

Sorry, I will need to hear the interview. I don’t believe it. Any Black person with any sense would never compare Trump’s privileged self as facing the same obstacles as a Black person in this country, especially in the Criminal Justice system. It’s amazing how so called experts can be consistently so wrong. They were wrong about everything in the interim election. And I don’t see how Obama survived Axelrod’s strategy.

Hacks on Taps was one of my favorite pods. I loved the banter, common sense, center left to right points of view. Now all I hear are you defending two opinions as if they were fact. 1. Biden is too old and 2. No one is happy with the election choice. Neither is true. If you look at how people are voting and how much money is being raised, it becomes clear that there is a strong following. Any credit given to Biden is like warm and any criticism is full force. Today, I listened to the Steve Israel episode because the description was not about Biden, but on almost every topic you discussed included a Biden criticism. Your recent speculations are way out there. Biden isn’t attacking the border failure because he’s trying to be like to be Washington? based on what? Or even better- what does that even mean? In one sentence you say Biden hasn’t come out about the failed border deal. (Which isn’t true- see Feb 06 speech), then the next sentence is the voters in the middle won’t be making up their minds until the Fall anyway. You mention people are only concerned with the price of eggs and their car payments and instead of celebrating that the inflation rate for 2024 is 2.8 % and projected to be 1.8% in 2025, down from 4.06% in 2023 and 9.59% in 2022, (Consumer Price Index & Inflation forecasts), you go on about the the lackluster response to “Bidenomics” launched in June 2023. Seriously? Never in my lifetime has the Democratic Party been so organized and cohesive. That doesn’t just happen. It takes years of experience, in other words - age. Biden has succeeded in uniting his party, which resulted in record legislation during his first term. It hasn’t been perfect- but it’s 1000% more stable now than it was in 2019. The average person, you claim, does not see the threat to democracy. Even if that were true, you guys and Steve Isreal do see it. So then why are you treating 2024 like it’s a normal election? You know what is at stake- it’s time to do better.

Outstanding, incredibly smart, and quite funny. Out of the 10 or so political pods I follow, this one is the most interesting and entertaining. I anxiously awaiting the release of each new episode.

Love the show, but it’s getting repetitive. Mostly just ragging on Biden’s poor campaign strategy. Guests say the same thing. Maybe get some guests from different points of view.

Axe MUST stop saying “uh” every few words. Just grinds the show to a halt. I enjoy hearing his opinions but he has to recognize that this is a broadcast, not a written piece. Please get a communications coach- would be so worth it!

Great show, excellent discourse, I really enjoy listening. The three of you are uber experienced, well known throughout politics, and know the right people who would be receptive to your thoughts, maybe even acting upon one or two. Maybe a few well placed suggestions-solicited or not? I am just a humble and appreciative listener, but… I hate that all these solid and fantastic campaign furthering ideas are going to waste. Thanks for an excellent podcast.

I enjoy the podcast, except that Mike Murphy almost always refers to women politicians by their first names, men by last names, referring to “Nikki” or “Hilary”, but Trump, Biden, DeSantis, etc. I’m sure it’s unintentional, but it’s disrespectful and demeaning to the women. C’mon, Mike. This first name thing is a battle we fought decades ago — catch up.

I love this insightful podcast. Hosts disagree with one another, but really like and respect one another.

Sometimes the comments about Biden seem personal since it is well known that Axelrod was not supportive of Biden while he was VP. Would like to like this podcast but when I go back to it again it’s the same issue

The key three are terrific and the conversation is practical politics-any drift will be accompanied and dissed by reference to Gibbs’s mother’s involvement with the League of Women Voters. Guests are also experienced and expert.

Love your show. I highly recommend we STOP saying “threat to DEMOCRACY” & instead say “threat to constitution” or to “the republic”. A LOT of people directly associate ‘democracy’ with the Democratic Party. I know it’s hard to believe but it’s very, very true. Iowa is such an example. When someone says “threat to democracy”…a lot of ppl think that means the democrats!!!

Guys.. listened to every one of these podcasts since 2019. Axe needs to let people talk. It’s getting worse and worse. He talks about Biden needing to come up with answers on his age perhaps Axe should follow his own advice because he sounds like a rambling old crank who is out of touch with reality these days. Axe: seriously. Be a good podcast host and let other people talk. They are on the show for a reason right? You don’t know everything

News flash for Robert Gibbs from the Far West: There are voters outside of the 202 area code who care deeply about what happens inside the beltway. It may not be his intention, but comments about his assumption of voter apathy among people less “inside” than he is are truly elitist.

Dear Mr. Axelrod, I am a conservative, old, white, southern lady who loves to hear intelligent white men in round table discussion! I have been so surprised and baffled to hear your insulting jokes: the seductress and the milkmen and another similarly unflattering joke in a recent episode. It may help you to think in terms of the concept of not punching down, which is what bullies do. As someone born at the top of the food chain, you can only afford to punch laterally. I, on the other hand, am in the enviable position to punch up!

They need to get rid of Murphy. I don’t get why he is a never trumper. He jokes about election fraud every show-although anyone that knows him knows he isn’t joking. He helped build the current monster that is the GOP. He was a huge fan gerrymandering and suppressing black votes prior to trump (still probably is). He loved the GOP when it was subtle racism and hurting poor people. Now that trump says stuff that they all believed but were embarrassed to say aloud he acts like he has morals. On top of his miserable ideas, this guy never wins anything. R’s have lost the popular vote in nearly every election since 1992. The one major race he won put a guy in office that nearly destroyed CA’s economy.

Listened to the show since the beginning. Enjoy it overall, but Axelrod is constantly interrupting, talking over people, and abruptly ending conversation, especially with women guests. I also wish the ad breaks were either longer but less frequent or had some better placement with a lead-in. They always feel so sudden and break the flow.
