Hackney Talks
Hello! Welcome to Hackney Talks. This podcast is all about the London Borough Of Hackney. My name is Ifraah and I am on a Journey to learn more about the place that raised me. To explore and discover, I will be joined by amazing people across Hackney, we will discuss the community spirit, politics, education, diversity and so much more. If you have suggestions for episodes or would like be a guest on an episode drop me a message: [email protected] ๐Ÿ™
Goldsmiths' #Goldstrike: Tassia Kobylinska and Feyzi Ismail
In this very important conversation I was joined by Hackney residents Tassia Kobylinska and Feyzi Ismail (Lecturers at Goldsmiths University.) We spoke about the ongoing #Goldstrike challenging a โ€œfire and rehireโ€ restructure which will see at least 52 redundancies across the university. If this tactic succeeds, an ominous message will be sent about the influence of banks in higher education, one which will empower other HE managers across the sector to consider similar ideological restructures. The speakers share their personal experience and how this impacts staff and universities. You can support by sharing the message widely and donating to the fighting fund. 3 weeks without pay is a huge sacrifice and they need our help! In this first episode of the Community Spirit segment. I was joined by the incredible Robin Prospect. We covered many topics in such a short episode, including environmental campaigning, LGBTQ+ activism, anti racism and more! Robin also spoke about the role we play in solving issues that affect our communities and the importance of listening and having conversations to make our world a better place. Robin is truly inspirational and it was amazing to have them join me in the episode ๐Ÿ’š
