The Haaretz podcast is a reminder to separate reasonable Israeli citizens from the right wing Israeli administration. Well presented by Allison and guests like Dr Dahlia Scheindlin are a pleasure to listen to.

When I read the Episode titles, I already know the result of the Interviews. That’s disappointing.

This show and publication have gone downhill since October 7, as they have caved to Israeli government censorship pressures.

All I can think of is Kahane was right.

I was horrified to read the transcript of this interview-. I was horrified that you gave Mr Beinart a podium to spew his anti Israel venom. He should have been made to spend 3 months with an IDF unit. Has he seen the devastation in our North and South. Did he see all the footage from October 7? Does ge understand the nature of Hamas and their explicitly genocidal aims? Has he read the numerous reports of expert military men who after painstaking analysis have praised Israel for its care and efforts on the whole to prevent civilian deaths under the worst fighting conditions ( Hamas using its civilians as human shields etc You know all this yet you give. Him a bully pulpit to add his skewed biased View to that of the antise mites. I have been looking for a liberal left viewpoint in my efforts to listen to a balanced fare of reporting. This interview is way over the line and should not have seen the light of day. I have lost some trust in your presenting me with material worth listening to.

In such a painful time for Israel and world Jewry, Allison Kaplan Sommer’s interviews are, as the expression has it, “reality based,” i.e. factual and in-depth. And, when our emotions are inflamed, she brings compassion, too. Here, in the English-speaking Diaspora, feeling too far from Israel, I find her balanced, probing interviews water for the thirsty for news of Israel, with the essential feature that she doesn’t succumb to ideology shaped by fear or hate. Today Rabbah!

It is refreshing to hear a fair and balanced discussion of the issues Israelis and Jews face. I applaud the efforts of the team and hope they continue this important work.

Consistently engaging with its pick of guests, this is one of very few good Israel-based English-language news podcasts.

The Ha’aretz podcasts are an excellent source of accurate information and balanced views on Israel.

The only thing this host is interested in is being liberal. Bending over backwards to be progressive and anti israel. Disgusting

Alison Kaplan Sommer is great. I don’t always agree with the politics here—but I nonetheless find the perspective fulfilling to listen to because I learn about this sector of the Israeli electorate and Israeli society generally. It is a pleasure to listen to and I learn a lot. All the best to the hosts and stay safe! (As I write this Israel is at war)

Though the topics and commentary is excellent, the producers should try to improve the sound quality which ranges from mediocre to very poor. (you need the sound engineer from “The Promised Podcast”)

Barely audible. Why bother. And Amos Harel cheerleading not worthwhile. Nothing about catastrophic failure of intelligence and utter lack of IDF planning for such attack? We get it from anti Zionist NY times but not Ha Aretz? Ronan Bergman is crushing these guys. This wasn’t the minor leagues. It’s the little league. Remember Ukraine on first day of Russian invasion? Those guys were ready. But IDF an embarrassment. I would fight with zelensky over bibi any day.

I sought a thoughtful Israeli perspective at the beginning of the war and found it here. But in the midst of an unprecedented killing of civilians the coverage is dancing around a terrible fact: there is a genocide underway and no Israeli press is reporting on it.

I started listening to Haaretz to get an insight into what is being discussed inside Israel but the narcissism of israeli media is astounding. There is some sound reporting but it is mixed with bizarre and self indulgent victimization.

Don’t bother many better podcasts out there

Dr. Yofi Tirosh is an eloquent spokesperson for women’s rights in Israel. She effectively advocates for left-wing liberal democratic values in Israeli society, but her statement near the end of this podcast where she claims that 50% of Israeli Jews are “xenophobic and racist and sexist”, betrays an intolerance and slander of those with whom she disagrees. It was quite disappointing to hear such prejudiced opinions from a supposedly liberal minded advocate. it was equally disappointing that Allison Kaplan Sommer did not challenge this outrageous accusation.

I listened as these brilliant donkeys, complained about Israel refusing to give their Iron dome technology to the Ukraine… The UKRAINE who has just joined forces with IRAN to fight Russia. THE same IRAN who has constantly said their soul desire is to wipe Israel and the Jewish people off the face of the earth. And these brilliant parrots of the latest narrative want us to give IRAN the one thing they haven't been able to hack or get past, the only thing that keeps Israel and millions of Jews safe from complete annihilation . Stupidity at its finest.

Great window into Israel politics and society by Haaretz’s smart, articulate and well-informed writers. I like their liberal left of center standpoint but comes at cost of a perspective on Israel’s long rightward lurch.

Why is this called news, it’s almost all opinion pieces. Simon literally just asked someone he was interviewing is there any way to blame Netanyahu for what happened. Another interview stated the good news is that Netanyahu is out. He can feel how he wants about politics, but don’t pretend to be giving news.

So sad to hear a liberal Jewish news organization that enjoys bashing the nation of Israel for being pro-Jew. Sounds like the angry overtones of a group who wants to change something that God has already granted - a free Jewish state, run by free Jews, who don’t accept the shtetl state of mind.

As a liberal American non-Jew I am happy to find a sane voice for Israel. Bibi and Trump will eventually leave office. I hope that our beloved countries will survive their insanity.
