Indie Grocer's Round Table #1 - Hosted by Taylor of Good Things Grocery
Taylor Burge of Good Things Grocery in Lockhart & Martindale, TX welcomed several indie grocers from around Texas for our first monthly round table zoom call. We took some time to introduce ourselves and share some things that are working for us. Before this call, I sent out a survey to our participants to gauge who we were talking with. I found that most of us on this call have been in operations for under 5 years. Most of us are operating at less than 2,000 square feet. Most of us are in underserved areas and food desserts. Most of our shops offer in house prepared foods, some with espresso programs. Most of us are getting product from UNFI, KEHE, Faire and Direct from Vendors. All of us have questions about margins, marketing, driving sales, and keeping amazing staff. We also explored discussions of POS systems and their differences. The Indie Grocers involved in this call are: Matti Bills & Brooke of Three Six General in San Marcos, Texas Sam Newman of Little Red Box Grocery in Houston, Texas Chealsea & Kaz of Naturally Nourished Market in Wimberly, Texas Sam Stavinhoa of The French Co. in Marathon, Texas Jennifer of Paris Grocery in Paris, Texas Support the podcast by donating what you can!
