Taylor Burge of Good Things Grocery in Lockhart & Martindale, TX welcomed several indie grocers from around Texas for our first monthly round table zoom call. We took some time to introduce ourselves and share some things that are working for us. Before this call, I sent out a survey to our participants to gauge who we were talking with. I found that most of us on this call have been in operations for under 5 years. Most of us are operating at less than 2,000 square feet. Most of us are in underserved areas and food desserts. Most of our shops offer in house prepared foods, some with espresso programs. Most of us are getting product from UNFI, KEHE, Faire and Direct from Vendors. All of us have questions about margins, marketing, driving sales, and keeping amazing staff. We also explored discussions of POS systems and their differences.
