Chapter 1: State of the souls in Purgatory, how they are free from all self-love.
Chapter 2: The joy of the souls in Purgatory. The saint shows how they are ever seeing God more and more. Difficulty in speaking of therir condition.
Chapter 3: Separation from God is the greatest punishment of Purgatory. Wherein Purgatory differs from Hell.
Chapter 4: State of the souls that are in Hell and of the difference there is between them and those in Purgatory. Reflections of the saint upon those who are neglect their salvation.
Chapter 5: The peace and joy of Purgatory
Chapter 6: Comparison to show with what violence and what love the souls in Purgatory desire to enjoy God.
Chapter 7: The wonderful wisdom of God in the invention of Purgatory and Hell.
Chapter 8: The necessity of Purgatory, and how terrible it is.
Chapter 9: The way in which God and the souls regard one another in Purgatory. The saint confesses her inhability to express herself on this matter.
Chapter 10: How God makes use of Purgatory to render the soul perfectly pure. The soul there attains such purity, that were it to stay after being cleansed it would no longer suffer.
Chapter 11: The desire of souls in Purgatory to be quite free from the stains of their sins. The wisdom of God in suddenly hiding from those souls the defects they have.
Chapter 12: The union of suffering and joy in Purgatory.
Chapter 13: How the souls in Purgatory are no longer in a state to merit, and how they regard the charity exercised in the world for them.
Chapter 14: On the submission to the will of God that the souls in Purgatory have.
Chapter 15: How the souls in Purgatory rebuke the men of this world.
Chapter 16: The saint shows that the sufferings of the souls in Purgatory do not destroy their peace or their joy.
Chapter 17: The saint in conclusion, applies all that has been said of the souls in Purgatory to what she feels and experiences in her own soul.

"Saint Catherine of Genoa (Caterina Fieschi Adorno, born Genoa 1447 – 15 September 1510) is an Italian Roman Catholic saint and mystic, admired for her work among the sick and the poor.
In the Treatise on Purgatory, St. Catherine wrote about the purpose of Purgatory, the unspeakable pain endured by the souls in Purgatory, and the great hope that souls have while in Purgatory, of seeing and spending eternity with God in Heaven. (Introduction by Wikipedia and Ann Boulais)"
