In this weeks episode, we take a little trip back in time! I had the privilege to have a conversation with Avy Schreiber, a fellow Detroiter,  (yes more of us exist!) and one of the founding members of Beat’Achon A Capella group. Avy is also an accomplished pianist and wedding singer. Fun fact: He played my wedding 9 years ago! ( We even played on stage together!) For those old enough to remember, Beat’Achon, was the original Jewish group. Later they turned into Kol Zimra, which is now making a resurgence with a few new songs that have recently been debuted on their YouTube channel. This week we sit down with Reuven Garber. Reuven is coming off a hit new single Ayeh which he sings in Spanish. We go deep to learn about Reuven’s Spanish roots. Reuven Garber is also the other half to popular duo Derech Achim. The two members of the group, Jared Lazarus (Avraham Lazarus) and Reuven Garber are both from South Africa, although Jared spent most of his life in Australia. Jared works in real estate full time and Reuven is an Avreich in Kollel.  They married two sisters and live with their respective wives and children in Johannesburg, South Africa. They have spent their spare time over the past 6-9 months composing and producing their album, Mayim Rabim, coming soon!  They compose across the entire music spectrum (from folk, to African, to epic romantic, soul and blue-grass country) in order to find the most powerful, fitting vessel to communicate the unique message they are trying to express in each song.
