My Autoimmune Journey: Beating Hashimoto's Disease
In February 2020, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease.  I have learned that the disease is now in remission, so I wanted to share a bit about my journey. I want to encourage you to regularly see your doctor(s) whether you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease or not.  Early detection is key with this disease as all other diseases.  Pay attention to how you feel and if you are having any symptoms that are out of the norm. The symptom could be something minor, or the sign of some bigger issue. Don’t let anyone dismiss your symptoms as being something you are imagining. In this episode I discuss: What is an autoimmune disease? Some of the most common autoimmune diseases. What is Hashimoto's Disease? Common Symptoms of Hashimoto's Disease. Possible causes of Hashimoto's Disease? Foods to avoid. What I did to manage my disease and put it into remission. Is Self Sabotage Holding you Back?
In this episode, I unpack self sabotage. We may all engage in self sabotage, but may not even realize it. During my own journey to better my mental health, I have come to realize some of the behaviors I have been engaging in are rooted in self sabotage.  The key is to identify the issue and get real with dealing with it.  Self sabotage can occur when we fear failure, success, or we are looking for a way out of a situation. Self awareness and living a life that you desire is key to preventing self sabotage.   In this episode I discuss: What is self sabotage? Why do we self sabotage? What does self sabotage look like? What causes us to self sabotage? How can we overcome self sabotage? Wellness and Giving to Others
Go Hard Chicks, in Episode 18, I share how being in service to others, not only helps the recipient, but helps you as well!  In order to be on a true wellness journey, we must work on our mental health and being in service to others helps us keep our minds and spirits in check.   Research has shown that participation in voluntary giving "is significantly predictive of better mental and physical health, life satisfaction, self-esteem, happiness, lower depressive symptoms, psychological distress, and mortality and functional inability." -VOLUNTEERING AND HEALTH BENEFITS IN GENERAL ADULTS: CUMULATIVE EFFECTS AND FORMS. Giving does not have to be complicated.  In fact you can give by: Saying thank you to someone for something they’ve done for you. Phoning a relative or friend who may need support or company. Asking a colleague how they are and really listen to the answer. Offer to lend a hand if you see a stranger struggling with bags. Go Hard Chicks, I challenge you to find ways that you can engage in simple acts of kindness in your daily lives.  Doing so helps not only you, but the universe.  Doing for other is medicine for the soul!  Connect with me:  Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/gohardchick  Website: www.gohardchick.com  Instagram: @gohardchick and @krisalisefit  Facebook: Krisalise Fit

Empowerment for Creative Journeys: Ignite your true expression in your art, business and life with Dara Grimes, MSW, LCSW
In Episode 15, I am joined by Dara Grimes a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, counselor and founder of A Better Mind, A Better Me, LLC. She engages her clients and addresses their diverse needs by cultivating a relationship of trust that is committed to problem solving. Dara firmly believes in honoring and observing discretion and care for the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of her clients. She counsels them to actively transform their thinking and perspective to actualize what they deem impossible – whether it be overcoming anxiety, hopelessness, depression, relational challenges or fear. Dara combines her 15+ years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker, both for the U.S. Military and in private clinics working with families and youth, and incorporates what she gleaned from her 14+ years as a tour manager in the entertainment industry to advise her clients in confidently managing their daily life challenges in a healthy way. I have known Dara since we were infants. I have watched her grow from being a little girl to a powerhouse tour manager for artists such as Baby Face and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few, and later become a social worker. We grew up in Gary, Indiana and attended Emerson Visual and Performing Arts as children. In this episode we discuss our creative backgrounds and growth and careers through the years. We address how you can combine both a traditional career with a creative one. This episode is all about empowerment and encouragement. Before you can know who you are, you need to discover what is true for you in your own heart and true authentic self. Learn to listen to your own inner knowing and creative impulses and nurture this relationship. You must know who you are, what lights you up, what your needs are and be able to communicate them. Learn to follow this voice and take action on it. Once you identify your passion or goals, you have to commit.  Until there is commitment there will always be hesitancy. And hesitancy and doubt keep us stuck in excuses and sabotaging success by believing we aren’t worthy enough to live our deepest heartfelt yearnings and dreams.
