Gluten-Free Psychiatry
Gluten-Free Psychiatry
Daniel M. Williams, M.D., P.A.
Modern psychiatry meets toxin-free living. Imagine how much better mental health would be after detoxing from toxic people, electromagnetic radiation, PFAS, BPA, Parabens, Glyphosate (RoundUpTM), Fluoride, Botulinum Toxin, and Heavy Metals (aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury). That’s the ideal and expanding on the ideal circumstances for optimum health is what Mindshift Care is all about. Holistic examples include energy psychology, reiki, Emotion Code, acupuncture, detox protocols, cupping, ionic foot bath electrolysis, and more.
Biblical Psychiatry from the Dead Sea Scolls
Episode 25: Several ancient religions had their prophecies confirmed when exact copies of their manuscripts were discovered between 1947-1960's. Over 4 Billion Believers in the Dead Sea Scrolls Over half of the world believes in religions emanating from the Dead Sea Scrolls (Table 1). Sometimes people switch religions and other folks only partly assimilate the teachings into their lives. Because loving release of all people and things is central to healing, there is no place in the healing community for hate speech toward anyone. If you are recovering from a violent past, Biblical Psychiatry from a Dead Sea Scroll healing practice may be helpful in releasing harmful messages of childhood and the subconscious mind. I can say that from experience with Complimentary and Alternative Medicine helping with other mental health conditions such as chronic pain syndrome, memory loss, and sexual disorders. https://vimeo.com/1135228120 Download & Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. Religious and Spiritual Problems in the Field of Psychiatry In 1994, the American Psychiatric Association published the DSM-IV, reconceptualizing religious and spiritual problems as a separate V-code 62.89 that could explain symptoms.1 This is significant for two reasons. First, it medicalized and pathologized spiritual and religious problems. Second, it placed spiritual and religious problems right next to mainstream psychiatric disorders on a differential diagnosis, allowing a clinician a choice between one or the other. The field of medicine and psychiatry both seek to offer effective, compassionate care to all peoples regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion or creed. It has been a privilege to offer compassionate, holistic care to patients from all walks of life since I took the Hippocratic Oath in 2003. National standardized board exams have at least one “Religious Problem” question on the multiple-choice questions along the pathway to becoming a board-certified psychiatrist. There was little to no training from mainstream medicine into ancient healing practices, however. The risk is that psychiatrists would diagnose a spiritual experience as a psychiatric condition, further confounding things for the patient. If the patient has a spiritual experience, it may be comforting but it may be terrifying depending on a whole host of different circumstances. I’ve never used V-code 62.89, but I regularly engage convesations about any ancestral healing modalities. This podcast is my attempt to improve communication between doctors and patients. What follows is an outline of common history. Prophecies Confirmed by Carbon-Dating The Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS) are a collection of over 25,000 fragments comprising the remains of about 1,000 ancient manuscripts found in various sites in the Judean Desert mostly between 1947 and the 1960s.2 These documents were validated by modern carbon-dating, giving undeniable archeological evidence supporting that hundreds of the ancient prophecies have already come true. For a prophecy to be true, it is expected that event take place in plain sight of all the people. Ancient prophets were serious business. The prophets were killed for any mistakes. A few were outcast, but most were advisors to kings and world leaders. The Canon of Scripture The "canon" refers to the 66 books that were selected to be in the Bible combining the Old and New Testaments. They were selected because the prophecies and cross-references are all internally consistent with each other. They have different author perspectives, of course, and the books' authorship dates are spread out over 1,500 years at least. With enough study bibles and bible studies, it is possible to learn all of the pieces necessary to prove this consistency to yourself. I highly recommend you take the time to do that as early in life as possible. For a fascinating way to get started with prophecy, I highly recommend Beth Moore's presentation of the Book of Daniel. My esoteric friends will be curious to learn that the Archangel Michael can only be in one place at a time. Modern "Religious Problems" The field of psychiatry contains clinical evaluations of people at all stages of life, including times of deep excitement or deep sorrow related to religion. Divorce, followed by trauma within the religion itself, are pretty typical. They come to our offices in tears of sadness and joy that are profound. They look to us for guidance even if we're not familiar with their religion. Please be patient with a psychiatrist from a different religion from you. In general, we are trained to diagnose that a religious or spiritual problem is occurring and to refer you to the proper religious or spiritual leader. Give them a chance to impress you with their professionalism. If they don't, book a Mindshift Assessment with me immediately. I know what it's like to see the shame-control system behind the curtains of churches. It is possible to heal-in-place. Let me help you. Eighty-nine percent of Christians haven't read the bible. The book of Psalms has wonderfully relaxing passages, providing solid comfort for millions over millenea. In 2003, 54% of pastors endorsed viewing porn. In 2024, 86% of pastors say pornography is a problem among pastors. The King James bible translation was written at a 12th-Grade reading level. Bill Combs writes a nice article about how it should have embarrassed the evil king that an 11-page disclaimer was written by the translators that were forced to work with enethical rules of translation. The New King James Bible was further dumbed down to a 7th-Grade reading level. I prefer to study a Chronological Bible and I would love to host a bible study if you're interested to keep each other accountable. The history has been watered down and obfuscated over the millennia by bygone government fact-checkers.3-6 I think the main way history gets lost is by putting the books out of order. The books in the bible are not in chronological order so, if anyone were reading it, generations might miss the absolutely most crucial piece of world history - hundreds of prophecies have come true. About the Author: Catholic, Protestant, & Satanist, Oh My! My religious background includes the earliest memories of Catholic masses with my grandparents. I was in the Lutheran church in elementary school around the years of my traumas. Abuse and frustration occured as a teenager and, despite the grace of a YMCA child daycare manager, I turned to Satan briefly at age 15. I sobered up at age 19 and rededicated my life to Jesus Christ at John Osteen's original Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. That's when they used to pray for you to receive the Holy Spirit after every alter call. I studied the New Testament and had a few hundred pages of notes before joining the Army two years later in 1993. For over a year prior to joining the Army the first time, I attended a Full Gospel Pentecostal-Style church in South Houston, Texas with Pastor Roy Love. He said “There’s healing in the presence of the Lord” and I felt something quicken in my chest and grab my attention. I strongly thought that the pastor was right and I decided right then to keep attending. They spoke in tongues, sang, danced and got slain in the Spirit like you see on TV. I participated in effective healings at age 20. I'm 53 now and, as a Master Healer, I think so fondly of Pastor Love's simple wisdom. He was right. It's the very presense of the Lord that replaces the trauma residue from our bodies. The discovery of a real spiritual life was the only way to make sense of some paranormal experiences I had had already by age 19, but more about that later on. My faith came to life in many ways during the 1997 humanitarian mission to Benin, Africa. It changed my life enough to cause me to pursue the field of medicine in the first place and I made a documentary about it (MEDFLAG 97-1). The biggest reason this Texan became so diverse is because at the age of 21 my first duty assignment in the U.S. Army was Germany in 1993. This was two years after the Berlin wall came down and we could see the bullet holes on all of their buildings on the East side. I wrote my own notebook on a History of Isreal while stationed overseas and attended a German-speaking church. I had two years of remote duty and did not speak the language or have any real military support in-person. I didn't even know how to buy vegetables at the grocery store. Visiting the place where Anne Frank died in the Netherlands, Bergen Belsen, really hit me hard. I earned the German Studies Certificate from the University of Maryland while I was stationed in Germany. That is where I leared about how the Nazi movement subjugated progressive causes and created the world's largest killing machine without the knowledge of the people paying for it. I still love the heavy metal music that comes from Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany and many of the European and Scandinavian countries because their ballads capture the story of the warriors from all of those lands (If any of

C.A.M. for Sex & Love Addiction, Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome and Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
Episode 18: Part 2/2. See the commonalities in treatment approach to all things sexual, including mainstream and Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (C.A.M.). Part 1 in this series is here. What do these 4 have in common? Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome, Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, Sex & Love Addiction Whether you never want to have sex at all, have unwanted orgasms, pain during orgasm or sex addiction, most of these start under similar conditions. There is typically some combination of unhealthy male:female energy and sexual trauma during development, linking the two. They are actually separate things as previously discussed in Episode 17 and can be separated with a Mindshift. If that sounds like you, book an ancient male:female healing, read a couple of books, and visit a support groups to overcome anything and set any goal. If I can help, don't hesitate to contact me. https://vimeo.com/1130421270?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download & Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. Keep in mind, the male brain doesn't fully develop until age 33 and the female brain at age 25. Therefore, your sexual development is technically still continuing until the brain is fully mature. Of course, the younger you are when you have trauma, Adverse Childhood Event (ACE), the more the subconscious absorbed all of that energy and is carrying it forward. Fortunately, the brain can be rewired and you can learn to do it yourself. That is what a customized Mindshift Plan is all about. Sex and Love Addiction Yes, Sex and Love Addiction are two different things that often run together. For that reason there are separate 12-Step fellowships for each one: Sex Addicts Anonymous and Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. I recommend reading the small text book for the one that fits best first. Contacting local meetings isn't highly publicized due to the anonymity, so you'll first have to actually call or email the local contact to explain you're interested in a meeting and you're not from the media. What get's missed often times is the Love Addiction. This is an addiction to intrigue, that exciting feeling you get when you first make eye with someone or think early-on in relationships that it's a fairy tale romance. Romance and the pursuit of the "new and exciting" creates the same chemical addiction to dopamine in the brain as crack cocaine, and plenty of adrenaline flows during flirtation. The body gets excited at merely the thought of the future with someone still unknown. By way of disclosure, I got clean and sober at the age of 19 myself and was exposed to 12 Steps and fellowship throughout my younger years. My training helped validate what I already knew, that the 12 Steps are still the #1 most effective approach to addiction - but our culture attacks humility, which is direly needed in recovery. For some, the strings of conformity are just too strong to muster the courage to heal and change yourself, darkening the doorway to a sexual support group and availing yourself freely of the help as if your life depends on it. You can change. https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Call-Love-Recovery-Addiction/dp/0553351389/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&sr=1-1 Mainstream Treatment for Sexual Addiction Psychotherapy is always recommended because it had yielded amazing results in so many. Intensive Outpatient Programs are helpful for long-term lifestyle change. Mainstream treatment for sexual addiction is sparse, but making an appointment for symptomatic control and general mental health in early recovery can still be very grounding. Mood stabilizers sometimes help with impulsive decisions and mood swings that predispose addicts toward an impulsive relapse. I've seen naltrexone help with cravings for alcohol, gambling, opioid addiction, and unhealthy sexual impulses . Smart Recovery Nowadays, there are two other fellowship options besides the hundreds of 12 Step groups for various addictions: Smart Recovery and Celebrate Recovery. Smart recovery is psychology-based and teaches the terminology of every day psychology. These would have probably helped me out a lot in my younger years, particularly in communication in close relationships. Celebrate Recovery These are church-based, weekly meetings. They have a unique format. The first hour is a meal together with family, the second hour is a speaker, the third hour are small groups (women's, veterans, etc). Complimentary And Alternative Approaches to Sexual Disorders As with recovery from all addictions, C.A.M. offers a wide range of self-care techniques that are crucial to maintaining a sense of balance. Homeopathy, medication classes, massage, Reiki, infrared saunas, acupuncture and Emotion Code would be a good place to start. In my practice, I've found that the ancient practice of male:female energy healing awakens an exciting energy without any addictive behaviors attached, allowing the addict to un-wire the original trauma through repeated, safe encounters of healthy male energy with standard, safe professional boundaries. In psychiatry, it is perfectly ok to discuss taboo subjects and thoughts that are hidden from society, including sexual. Thus, an appointment to make a Mindshift Plan for hypoactive sexual desire, persistent genital arousal disorder, sex and/or love addiction can help you ground this behavior faster than with the mainstream approach alone. https://www.amazon.com/Journal-Tracker-Plant-Based-Detoxification-Regeneration/dp/B085K97LP5/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&sr=1-3 https://www.amazon.com/Hypoactive-sexual-desire-disorder-repercussions/dp/3659206512/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&sr=1-5

Polypharmacy In Mainstream Medicine
Episode 15: Download and Share my Cheat-Sheet for Mixing Dangerous Prescription Medications. Polypharmacy is a term used to describe the interaction of multiple medications with increased risk of adverse outcomes including disability and death. The most commonly reported definition of polypharmacy was the numerical definition of five or more medications daily (n = 51, 46.4% of articles), with definitions ranging from two or more to 11 or more medicines1. Each class of medication carries different risks that can be additive and potentiate adverse events. Two Hundred Thousand – 400,000 people die every year due to medical mistakes globally. Pressure from the US government led doctors to drastically cut back the use of opiates in the past several years. The next target is Benzodiazepines sometimes still necessary for relief of severe anxiety, at least until someone decides to start achieving Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Emotional balance. https://vimeo.com/1129164156?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download & Share the Ambassador Slides Handout. The standard of care for anxiety disorders The standard of care for anxiety disorders is psychotherapy and an antidepressant. Medications such as benzodiazepine-related (alprazolam, diazepam, lorazepam, clonazepam, zolpidem, etc.), gabapentin, propranolol, hydroxyzine and buspirone are frequently used off-label for breakthrough anxiety or panic episodes. Also, chronic insomnia is best treated with a specific protocol for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). Primary care prescribe approximately 90% of all psychiatric medications in the U.S.A., but they take a symptom-based approach to make the anxiety temporarily abate. In psychiatry, the goal is to overcome the emotional dysregulation and improve resiliency for future stressors. Chronic benzodiazepine use no longer has a place in the psychiatric standards of treatment. The risks of dementia, IQ point loss, insomnia, prolonged PTSD, chronic anxiety, dependency, risk of death, and avoidance of psychotherapy outweigh the temporary benefits of this class of nervous system depressants. Below is a list of contraindications (Do Not Mix) and summary of class-specific side effects in attempt to prevent harm, originally published as an excerpt from Clinical Handbook for Psychiatric Urgent Care in the USA, Daniel M. Williams, M.D., P.A. List of common side effects in acute settings of polypharmacy. This is what your doctor is worried about: Why We Fight Alcohol: Active alcohol use is a risk factor for medication adverse events. Combining medications with alcohol can result in respiratory depression, failure to maintain a secure airway, aspiration pneumonia, respiratory failure, coma and death. Benzodiazepines: Work on the GABA receptors just like alcohol. As such, they kill brain cells and are associated with insomnia, doubling the risk of dementia at any age, cognitive loss, persistent anxiety, physical and psychological dependence, and addiction. Examples: Ativan (lorazepam), Klonopin (clonazepam), Valium (diazepam), Xanax (alprazolam), Ambien (zolpidem), Temazepam, Oxazepam, Zaleplon. Benzodiazepines handoutDownload Buprenorphine: Subutex contains only buprenorphine but Suboxone contains naloxone in addition to buprenorphine (naloxone helps protect people from an inadvertent opioid overdose). So long as there is naloxone present, there is practically no abuse potential, but it makes no sense to take it with a bunch of other controlled substances. I've seen people take full opiates in the parking lot and walk-in to start the buprenorphine induction protocol. Subutex is a sublingual tablet and Suboxone is a film that you put under your tongue. Subutex was approved in 1981 and Suboxone has been available since 2002. Both Subutex and Suboxone can be initiated early by a doctor as part of an opioid treatment program. The brand name Subutex has been discontinued in the U.S. but it is available as generic buprenorphine sublingual tablets. Methamphetamine: This stimulant can cause psychosis, irritability and anger, and other forms of mood and thought disorders. Acutely, heart attacks, strokes, seizures and psychosis are some of the most dangerous interaction when mixing meth with other substances. Opiates: Opiates stop the respiratory drive so the diaphragm stops moving, the main way people die on overdoses with fentanyl and heroine, etc. Prescription opiates are just as dangerous when abused or mixed with other medications or alcohol. Stimulants: Stimulants can include prescription and nonprescription. By definition, they increase adrenaline and dopamine in the frontal cortex in the brain. Therefore, combining stimulants with some other medications can exacerbate the background risk of hypertension, palpitations, arrhythmia, even leading to stroke and death. Examples: Methylphenidate, Adderall, methamphetamine, cocaine. A good example of this is the recently outlawed Dos Locos beer that added a stimulant to an alcoholic beverage that resulted in deaths. THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive agent and neurologic pain relief from the cannabis plant. There are no known overdoses or deaths due to THC in the history of mankind. There are 500 endocannabinoids and terpenes with ancient, healing benefit. That said, it can cause syncope, dizziness, sleepiness, drowsiness, forgetfulness and amotivational syndrome. 1 Masnoon N, Shakib S, Kalisch-Ellett L, Caughey GE. What is polypharmacy? Proof Agent Orange Causes Dementia: Historic VA Rating Decision
Episode 14: Download the first Independent Medical Opinion letter that got a Vietnam Veteran VA Service-Connection for Agent Orange causing Dementia. UPDATE 11/10/2025: We were successful! The VA Awarded 100% Service-Connection for Agent Orange Causing Dementia for the first time in history. Read the VA's Rating Decision Letter for Agent Orange Dementia. Make a VA Disability Claim Application Tracker (one-page) Book a C&P Exam I recently had the experience of doing an evaluation on a Vietnam veteran who had been exposed to Agent Orange. Since 1993, the VA Secretary has declared that there is no link between Agent Orange and the subsequent development of dementia. In the past two years, all that has changed. https://vimeo.com/1128135250?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download and Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. I just have to say, Thank a Vietnam Veteran TODAY The entire world owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to our Vietnam Veterans, not only for suffering the way the did and continue to, but for advancing mental health care with the advent of the PTSD diagnosis in 1980. My family got involved because my father brought Vietnam home with him too. I like to say my little brother and I were Sons of Rambo, but my life experience led me to a completely different way to look at the whole problem. Flashbacks are electromagnetic waves in the body. Dozens of ancient, and several modern, techniques address the EMF wave without talking about trauma or pain at all. I believe energy healing returns us to our ancestral roots and God, in His infinite grace and lovingkindness, has provided a way for all peoples to find relief through different forms of medicine and healing. That's why Mindshift Care blends modern PTSD care with the much more effective ancient techniques that are Complementary and Alternative Medicine options for self-care. So, now I can help you, pray for you, and watch you release the residue from the body that is the real problem-magnifier. // MAJ (fmr) Daniel M. Williams, M.D., P.A. The toxic shame-culture still abounds at every step and every layer of the Matrix. So when you do VA Disability Evaluations, sometimes you get push-back on your reports. It's usually a previously written rebuttal paragraph, like this one. Notice how they address a board-certified psychiatrist of 10 years that believes neurotoxins kill brain cells - they said my report had "deficiencies". What I really wanted to say, instead of this IMO letter below, is "You're copy/pasting a 'deficiency' reply into the official VA disability claim from a veteran who was drafted, had nerve agent dumped on top of him from American aircraft, and was spit upon when he returned home to a country with several cities burning in protest fires. No, my report did not have deficiencies. You're part of a corrupt system that has been denying these claims since Agent Orange's first test spray in Vietnam on August 10, 1961. Signed, MAJ (fmr) Daniel. M. Williams, M.D., P.A., former 36th Infantry Division Psychiatrist." Here's what the VA said when I concluded Agent Orange caused Dementia "Please have the previous examiner address the deficiencies with the examination he or she conducted on the Veteran. Neurobehavioral disorders (cognitive and neuropsychiatric) have been determined by the Secretary, based on cumulative scientific data reported by the National Academies of Science since 1993, to have no positive association with herbicide exposure. Dementia is classified as a neurobehavioral disorder, encompassing both cognitive and neuropsychiatric components. You indicated that "the rationale is the veteran was exposed to Herbicide Agent TCDD while the Veteran served in Vietnam. This has been associated with the subsequent development of dementia." However, this rationale is not sufficient in this case. The rationale must: 1. Cite any general medical principles used to support the opinion. 2. Identify pertinent medical evidence and case-specific information relied on to support the opinion. 3. Demonstrate how the opinion was formulated. 4. Include supportive arguments for any opinions rendered or conclusions reached, with an analysis that can be considered when weighing contradictory or conflicting opinions. 5. Provide clear conclusions based upon supporting data and analysis, including a reasoned medical explanation connecting the two. Please clarify how, as a specific and individual matter, the Veteran’s dementia is associated with herbicide exposure, given that the National Academies of Science since 1993 have found no positive association involving neurobehavioral disorders with herbicide exposure as a general matter. Provide a specific, individualized rationale consistent with the five points above, to substantiate and support the opinion rendered." I have to admit that when I first saw this reply, it was news to me. I had the feeling I made a mistake, but I had to fight this one. If you've read about my personal struggle with detoxing from the PFAS Forever Chemicals, you'd know I'm intimately familiar with how neurotoxins kill brain cells. I decided to dig my feet in and write an essay on how Agent Orange causes dementia. Besides, I had to because there was no way to resubmit the document I had already filled out. I didn't know the research when I made that decision. Make a VA Disability Claim Application Tracker (one-page) Book a C&P Exam 2026 Nominee for the Mindshift Care Every Day Hero Award I invited Dr. Suzanne de la Monte, MD MPH to appear on the Gluten-Free Psychiatry Podcast. She is the researcher that provided both missing links between Agent Orange and dementia. Contact me to submit questions you'd like me to ask prior to that podcast. My plan is to emphasize her as a role model for future researchers' footsteps to follow. Download and share the full IMO letter with citation at the bottom of this page. Be sure to leave the PDF unchanged and cite properly. My Proof That Agent Orange Causes Dementia: Response to the VA [The most current version of the letter will be at the bottom of the page.] "Recent evidence suggests that Agent Orange exposures may predispose to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s Disease.1 There are now biological breakthroughs in science demonstrating what has been missing since in establishing causality of Agent Orange leading to neurocognitive decline and dementia. This contradicts the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs long held position that there is no causality (see Appendix A). It is well accepted that amyloid plaque collects in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients.2  More recent evidence suggest that medications with anti-histamine properties, like over-the-counter sleep aids and allergy pills, shut down the glymphatic system’s nightly brain wash-out of these amyloid plaques. Higher plasma Aβ oligomer levels were found in the blood of Alzheimer’s Disease patients that had been exposed to Agent Orange than those who had not.3 This landmark finding is a missing biological link to elevated amyloid plaques that build up (See Figure 1). Figure 1. Peer-reviewed, scientific studies now demonstrate causality of Agent Orange and neurocognitive damage, including the mechanism of action of dementia. The Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 2008 publication was written by the Committee to Review the Health Effects in Vietnam Veterans of Exposure to Herbicides (Seventh Biennial Update) at the Institutes of Medicine.4 In the 2008 Update, they write “Neurologic disorders due to toxicant exposure may result in either immediate or delayed dysfunction of any component of the nervous system; immediate effects of toxicants may involve all aspects of the nervous system, whereas delayed effects are likely to produce more focal problems.” They ruled against Agent Orange causing neurobehavioral effects, while simultaneously writing that Alzheimer’s Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Spinocerebellar degeneration, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis “all may be triggered by aspects of the environment, including toxicant exposure.” I opine that the reason there is not enough data to show causality is because it would be unethical to arrange a research study to prove it. The closest we can come is to recreate the conditions in a lab. Fortunately, researchers at Rhode Island Hospital, Lifespan Academic Institutions, and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island have made progress demonstrating the mechanism of action in cell cultures and in rat models. In 2023, Suzanne de la Monte et al. published their landmark finding under laboratory conditions, citing “Exposures to Agent Orange herbicidal chemicals rapidly damage CNS neurons, initiating a path toward AD-type neurodegeneration. Additional research is needed to understand the permanency of these neuropathologic processes and the added risks of developing AD in Agent Orange-exposed aging Vietnam Veterans.5 This study supports previously denied claims that the two main constituents in Agent Orange, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T), which independently and synergistically damage the central nervous system.5 Both compounds impair mitochondrial function and reduce cell viability in neuronal models, with 2,4,5-T demonstrating greater potency in causing cell death and mitochondrial dysfunction.”5          In 2024, Suzanne de la Monte and Ming Tong published their findings in live rat models.6 The rats were injected with Agent Orange and developed brain damage that clearly mimics dementia in humans.6 They concluded “Exposures to AO herbicidal chemicals damage frontal lobe brain tissue with molecular and biochemical abnormalities that mimic pathologies associated with early-stage AD-type neurodegeneration.”6 Translating this laboratory research into an attribution claim for a Vietnam v

VA Disability Evaluations: One Veteran to Another
Episode 012: Download and Share the one-page VA Disability Tracker at MindshiftCare.com/veterans. Physical and mental ailments follow veterans throughout their lives. Some things that start out relatively small turn out to be disabling as we age. Eventually the struggle causes a veteran to apply for benefits when they really, really need it. In that condition, it is difficult to stay organized when you're not sleeping enough to have memory issues caused by chronic high levels of cortisol. Well, I've created a one-page VA checklist tracker for you to keep up with the steps of the VA application process for disability compensation. Download and share with the world the VA Disability Tracker (below). This tracker is used to train new psychiatrists to do VA Disability Evaluations like an efficiency expert (see video below). Hello, I'm Dr. Daniel Williams, former Major in the Texas Army National Guard. I served as 36th Infantry Division Psychiatrist, Behavioral Health Officer and Veterinary Food Inspector Sergeant in my 16-year career. I've been doing veteran disability evaluations and wanted to discuss my lessons learned healing veterans and getting the disability compensation right. .spwidget-button-wrapper{text-align: center}.spwidget-button{display: inline-block;padding: 12px 24px;color: #fff !important;background: #de6a26;border: 0;border-radius: 4px;font-size: 16px;font-weight: 600;text-decoration: none}.spwidget-button:hover{background: #d15913}.spwidget-button:active{color: rgba(255, 255, 255, .75) !important;box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0, 0, 0, .15) inset} Book Appointment Tinnitus | Hearing Loss | Chronic Pain | Chronic Fatigue | Anger and Irritability | Social Isolation | Losing Jobs and Relationships | Night Sweats | Depression | Panic Attacks | Addictions of All Types When you first book an appointment with me, I'll go through my full psychiatric evaluation. The first payment for VA service connections will be back-dated to the initial date of filing of your active claim, therefore I recommend doing it online so you don't waste time or risk your sensitive information in the mail. (But overnight, certified, return receipt mail should do the trick.) Civilian medical records from each clinic or hospital you've visited. Each place will have it's own forms. Be sure to request the copy to go to yourself and always keep a copy of everything organized. Any medical evidence related to your illness or injury (like doctors’ reports, X-rays, and medical test results). Step 3. Fill out the appropriate forms for your disability case. Statement in Support of Claim (VA Form 21-4138). Tell the VA what you are claiming, your story, symptoms you've had and how your life is doing in every area now. Alternatively, you can write the VA a letter directly. Simply write what you want to say onto a blank piece of paper. Keep in mind that PTSD is now accepted based upon circumstantial evidence and these forms are an important part of that, as is behavior change after trauma (addiction, self-abuse, divorce, etc.) Lay Witness Statement. Try to get a military buddy or family member to fill out a Buddy Lay Witness Statement (VA Form 21-101-10) describing what they have witnessed. Behavior change, mood swings, arguments, family dysfunction, social isolation and nightmares are helpful to psychiatrists because people frequently lack clarity when they're experiencing these things. They can write the statement on the official form or write a basic letter on a blank sheet of paper. Be sure to include the current date, relationship of the writer to the veteran and the veteran's name in the letter. (I recommend pre-fill out the form with your personal information for your buddies to speed them up in getting it done.) Step 4. Attend your Mindshift Care appointment you made in Step 1. Step 5. Immediately afterwards, upload my report and all of the records you provided me to the VA for a new or updated application here. The clock starts now for increases in service connection percentages. Steps 6-10. Go celebrate! It may take a few months to get the VA Rating Decision letter back. If you are owed back-pay, veterans tell me that they typically notice the money hit the bank prior to seeing the letter itself. So take it easy and celebrate the fact that you got some government documentation done with a steak dinner or an MRE. Implied Tasks To get all of this done, you'll need just a few items to make it smooth: A computer with file folders set up to save copies of all of these documents. A 3-Ring Binder with copies of all relevant medical records (helpful for taking to doctor appointments). Divider tabs to organize all of the forms and records you collect. Basic office supplies: three-hole punch for your binder, stapler, staple remover, pens, pencils and whatever else makes you feel happy when you do a project "right". Access to the Internet so you can download forms and files. Keep digital files backed up so that all of your work is not lost on accident. Dropbox or cloud storage options are viable and handy because you can access files from your phone for easier sharing. Healing Veterans and Growing Your Own Medicine In the last 10 minutes of my disability appointments, I like to mention any resources that I know about that might help veterans. Most of the time, I break into a discussion that goes very much like this... Flashbacks are electromagnetic waves moving around in the body. When you have an unpleasant feeling that lingers and reappears, you have dozens of things you can do about it now to help relieve the intensity down to 10-20% of what it is now. I recommend booking an appointment today, watching date night documentaries and animal therapy to get people Mindshifting absolutely as fast as possible. When you add-in complimentary and alternative self-care strategies, mainstream treatment does its finest work. There are principles in this world that will give us the best possible results. These success principles are true throughout time and apply to gardening as well. Patient, persistence, loving intention, precise nutrition, removal of toxins, etc. Classes at Mindshift Care always have a universal perspective that teaches truths about life that cross-over into lots of other areas. What a Functional Psychiatry Team Looks Like: The New Standard for a Modern Mental Health Team
Episode 11: This is my favorite duo in private mental health care: a psychologist and energy healer working under the same roof. Interview with Julie Crowe and Dr. Heather Wadeson, PhD. As a psychiatrist, I always have my ears open to client feedback about therapists around town. Springfield, Missouri was no different. That's when I learned about Julie Crowe working in the same office as Dr. Heather Wadeson, PhD. We were all fast friends though I've only met them a few times in person. I do all of my work remotely now. I quickly started presenting the three of us as loosely forming a Functional Psychiatry team. My daily soap box at work was about holistic mental health care with my patients and I used Julie and Heather as a model example while I worked in Springfield. My hope is that more people will follow through with holistic referrals! https://vimeo.com/1124360712?fl=pl&fe=sh Download and share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT with their contact information. Eastern Subtle Body Work... JulieCroweHealing.com Contact Julie Crowe at [email protected] or by calling 417-860-3062. Be sure to leave a message because she's probably doing another appointment. Energy healing takes longer because the practitioner has to do certain practices both before and after the session. For this reason, energy clearing session typically cost more than a massage in a particular geographical area. Julie Crowe is certified in several ancient practices and is, in my view, a savant when it comes to using them. Her personal style integrates several (like 5-7) different types of practices, trainings, techniques and intuition all at the same time. She is a phenom. I get high watching people like her work. Reiki, which is love energy projected toward the client for an hour. Emotion Code, which is releasing trapped, stuck energy in the body painlessly. Chakra Balancing, which is body work involving all 7 of your main endocrine zones. ...Meet Western Psychology DrWadeson.com Dr. Heather Wadeson, PhD is a licensed psychologist in Springfield, Missouri offering appointments in person and online. Call 417-319-6076. She has a Compact license that applies to dozens of states within the United States. Folks, this is exactly the type of therapist I recommend - a compassionate, vulnerable person that is competent in multiple, holistic disciplines. She has deep experience in psychology and personal body stress relief as a certified yoga instructor. She works, and is great friends, with Julie Crowe so that means that her professional experience is full of witnessing energy healing work in her psychology patients, and visa versa. Specialties include: Sleep and Insomnia Diet, Nutrition and you Relationship with Food Setting Boundaries with Others ADHD and Executive Dysfunction Psychological Testing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy They are both thorough and competent in their fields, as they address a wide variety of human conditions. Between the two of them, they won't miss anything!! I predict you'll have improved odds of success and relief from your chief complaint if you'll work with both of them. Listen to the podcast to hear how this typically works out... Special thanks to Heather and Julie for making this web page possible. They are my 2025 Every Day Heroes!

Interview with documentarian Penny Lavin, The Healing Field: Exploring Energy & Consciousness
Episode 10: Another hero that does not disappoint. Penny and Ron Lavin's One Light Healing Touch school started in 1996 and has helped hundreds and thousands of people all over the world. https://vimeo.com/1124118531 Ambassador Slides HANDOUT - Penny Lavin contact information I first reached out to Penny and Ron just to thank them for their body of work. To tell them that "if I had it to do all over again I would not got to medical school, but would do their class and I would have been healing people this entire time." What happened next was unexpected. Penny said "Daniel, you'd make a great master healer." This was music to my ears because I still felt in the beginning of 2025 like I had been burned out by my profession as an Army Psychiatrist and civilian Medical Director. The jobs drained my empathy and compassion, just like I wrote about 10 years ago in my internationally cited burnout publication in the prestigious journal, Academic Psychiatry. Penny Lavin's documentary is available in Gaia and Amazon Fast forward through a lot of documentaries and it turns out that empathy can actually be studied, measured and analyzed with biofeedback. Well, I felt it as an Army Psychiatrist pulling double duty in 2022 on the Texas-Mexico Border and providing telepsychiatry to four federal prisons in Texas. I felt the pain on all sides closing in, pain from the migrants that lost loved ones crossing Mexico due to cartels, mass murderers, the military casualties helping with border patrol. As a dedicated healer, like Penn Lavin, I never waivered in my compassion towards my clients. But I did learn the hard way that when compassion is completely drained due to past trauma's quantum drag, that I wanted to simply quit it all. With this backdrop, this podcast interview interjects one of the worlds foremost accomplished healers and teachers. Penny Price Lavin is the second hero I've ever met that did not disappoint. (The first was COL Scott Bier with the Texas Army National Guard.) Finding her Basic Training class in early 2025 helped my with a few of my symptoms at the time: Terrible anger about my chronic pain and insomnia Grief over not being able to work as many hours as I used to Lack of enjoyment in life, not looking forward to living 20-30 more years in chronic pain Yes, I felt this way in 2025 due to chronic pain, but then that issue spiraled into complete exhaustion that affects everything. Soon, I was no fun to be around so I just stayed in the garage gym doing what I could to keep studying self-care, take different classes, and become more holistic so I could help myself. I took several certification classes but the One Light Healing Touch Program was, by far, the most impactful. Email Penny Lavin for $25 off the Day of Healing UPCOMING DATES: Day of Healing $150 ($125 if you tell Penny you heard about it on the Gluten-Free Psychiatry Podcast) - October 25 and November 6, 2026 - Register no later than 10 days in advance. Email [email protected] for the flyer for the January 16, 2026 Basic Training class for One Light Healing Touch. Basic Training $3,100 - January 16 through May 2026. Payment plans are available. If you want to join me when I retake the Basic Training class in January 2026, visit OneLightHealingTouch.com to learn more. Payment plans are available. I assure you, if you want to put these healing practices into your life you will have a Mindshift. Brave Browser AI search results for Penny Lavin's bio, accessed 10/3/2025.

Urgent Times Call for Resurgence of Mastermind Groups
Episode 9: The United States ranks 36th in literacy. The populace is entering into a Second Dark Ages and drinking poison in the water. Artificial intelligence, auto-spelling, auto-correction, auto-complete is all chipping away at our brain's opportunity to practice working. The censorship war is has been in full swing for years now. https://vimeo.com/1057642916 Download the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT to share and post. Need for a New Renaissance People have always been able to solve their own problems, given the right capacity, opportunity and motivation. Mastermind Groups create opportunity where there is none, by harnessing lessons learned from the first Dark Ages. Human imagination, trial and error took hold during the Renaissance and provided the free-thinking environment for leaders of the Industrial Revolution. What did the leaders have in common? They possessed 17 traits and held regular, active Mastermind Groups. Groups worked together in harmony with a definite major purpose. Individuals can have a separate purpose from the group, but agree to work together in harmony. Urgent Times Today the challenges before us are different than the Dark Ages, but the Great Reset appears already underway. Our challenges today are to our health, security, food, water and exposure to toxicity and radiation. The leadership required for a successful Mastermind Group is similar to that of a military commander. At higher levels of military echelons, the departments the commander must oversee are very diverse and highly specialized. For example, one Commander I knew came from an artillery background but was in charge of a Combat Engineer unit that could build cities. The Commander didn't have to know everybody's job. The role of the Commander is to get effective work from the team, delegate authority, and to deal with people causing disruption to the organization. Harmony is the watchword. From a place of support and safe vulnerability, comes innovation. These principles are at the core of the successful way the US military decentralizes decision-making where possible. Therefore, racism and nepotism are rendered impotent. Marry a harmonious group, working actively towards a definite major purpose, together with humility and you have a recipe for outstanding success. Call to Arms: Need for Resurgence of Mastermind Groups Mindshift Care hosts a group called Making Minshifters, in which we study together from the audio program The Science of Personal Achievement, by Napoleon Hill (available in Amazon). Members participate in solving their own problems while contributing to a group. Activism Mindshift: How You can Help You can start a Mastermind Group of your own! If you want to tackle a problem, or detox from a rare chemical, I'm offering training and support for lay leaders and professionals alike. Practice Guidelines for Serious Mental Illness
Episode 7: Teaching tool for medication classes in severe psychiatric illnesses. Figure 1. This is the table of contents for the Clinical Handbook I wrote as a teaching tool for advance practitioners. I taped the below graphic on the walls of each office where I supervised a busy psychiatric urgent care. It was helpful in explaining modern medication management approaches in an easy-to-understand format. The 100-Day Mindshift by Dr. Daniel Williams helps primary care and mental health programs that don't have time to explain the Clinical Practice Guidelines from the American Psychiatric Association. Figure 2: Treatment Guidelines for Serious Mental Illness. https://vimeo.com/1054650093 Download the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT to share. What is considered a "Serious Mental Illness"? Major depressive disorder, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder type 1 are considered Serious Mental Illnesses. Lobbyists aren't yet successful with getting PTSD added to the list. Medications are frequently used to treat dozens of mental health-related symptoms, but this episode will focus on Serious Mental Illnesses. Summary of Diagnostic Criteria for Serious Mental Illnesses *Major depressive disorder ~ 2 weeks of a collection of low mood and neurovegetative symptoms (appetite, sleep, energy, concentration, motivation, psychomotor agitation or retardation) with or without suicidal thoughts and psychotic features. Schizophrenia ~ 6 months of predominantly psychotic symptoms, such as hallucinations, delusions. Bipolar disorder ~ 7 days of a manic episode ever in life, including the combination of decreased need for sleep, grandiosity, and euphoria. Episodes can be depressed, manic, or mixed. Schizoaffective disorder ~ Clinically significant depressive or manic episodes, but psychosis remains when the mood episodes are in remission for at least 2 weeks. Bipolar Disorder is frequently confused with Intermittent Explosive Disorder Western culture defines "bipolar" as impulsive anger flares. This is nothing like the manic episodes of bipolar disorder and it is possible to have an anger problem too. Intermittent Explosive Disorder is truly an anger problem diagnosis. Features include unplanned, violent overreactions, such as arguments, punching holes, breaking cell phones and TV remotes. The guilt from the outbursts is often enough to trigger a full major depressive disorder, unless the person is antisocial and has no guilt. In my practice... A holistic approach to Intermittent Disorder would include Trileptal and a 2-Minute Speech, energy release work, and the Definite Major Purpose worksheet. Definite Major Purpose WORKSHEETDownload
