This is a very personal episode for me. I will be interviewing Mekisha Jane Walker about her book, "But, Why Did You Stay?", a book about her marriage to an abusive partner. But, I also reveal details of my own abusive marriage. It's a secret no one wants to share. There is a lot of embarrassment and judgment when it comes to domestic violence. And most people do not realize how hard it is to break free.
Mekisha Jane Walker was a successful trial attorney. No one could imagine that her life behind closed doors was filled with violence and verbal abuse. A very public event was the catalyst to her finally breaking free. She shares her journey with us today and we discuss the stigma behind domestic violence and how YOU can help someone break free.

In this episode, I have a very candid discussion with Nancy Little. She is a survivor of sexual child abuse by her own mother. Nancy was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 by the organization C.A.S.A (Court Appointed Special Advocates). She has shared her story many times across the country in hopes of raising awareness of sexual abuse by mothers. It's a very taboo topic that many refuse to believe but happens more often than you think.
Nancy also runs an online support group called Healing Body, Mind and Spirit. The group is open to men and women and meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. You can reach Nancy for more information by emailing her at: [email protected]

What happens when you wake up one morning to find your normal life is now a murder investigation and your husband is the victim?
My interview with Dr. Jan Canty takes us through this true crime story. Jan tells us what the experience taught her and how it has given her the unique ability to help others through the process.
It's taken Jan 30 years to finally be able to tell her story that became so unbearable, she had to walk away and recreate herself all over again.
Dr. Canty's book, "A Life Divided" will be out this summer. Until then, you can find Jan on her own Podcast, The Domino Effect of Murder. Available on Spotify and also at mentalhealthnewsradionetwork.com and at JanCantyPhD.com
