I absolutely love this podcast and I have been re listening over and over for years. This will sound like a back handed compliment, I'm sorry but it's not meant to sound that way. Can you please read a little slower on the newer episodes? They're much faster than the older ones and honestly I have to re listen a few times because I just can't focus on them. Thank you for all the hard work you put in. It is truly appreciated!!!!

I love Liz’s cozy mysteries! I have been a fan for several years. I must have listened to Thea 20 times on my last road trip. She’s opened my world up to this genre and I have also loved her recommendations for additional cozy mystery authors. If you love New England charm, interior design, and a splash of real estate, Liz sets up a beautiful backdrop of themes as if taken from an HGTV special! Throw in some mystery, murder and sometimes the super natural, as you follow the layered lives of her charming characters to their exciting conclusions! 10/10!

I just found this podcast late last year and have gobbled it up. I am now anxiously awaiting each new episode. Liz has given us the most comfy, scary, fun listen and I am so grateful!

On dig sites, in the lab, on long nights doing research, and during the ridiculous commutes to and from the “office,” there has been nothing better than hearing Liz Sower regaling us with the creepy tales of Wellesley, Massachusetts and spooky-adjacent locales - I’m looking at you, “Out of the Swells.” I just learned of this podcast this year and have been listening to every word, reliving the past ten years in a new, spookier light. Handling artifacts and precious historically, culturally significant items, I always wonder… what story will this thing tell me..? It comes with the job … but then I can let my mind go and enjoy the “what ifs?”I appreciate everything that you’ve done and will share this with all of my lab mates and friends! I had not found any podcasts that I had loved as much as Radio Rental in awhile but then I found this and I am so happy I did. Also I’m from. Boston so it was cool to hear so many true stories about my home state.

I am still about 4 years behind but I want to say thank you! I am loving the podcast it is such a great escape!

It’s a rare thing these days with hundreds of thousands of voices all contributing to a vast network of stories and opinions and reporting to find one that feels like a familiar friend. That’s Liz for me. I just started this show a few months ago, several years late but I think it found me just in time. Liz is an incredible story teller. A wordsmith, a scribe indeed. She’s made me laugh out loud like a lunatic getting the odd look from my neighbors as I’m gardening and also made me weep. Not to mention how absolutely bone chilling her stories are. I appreciate her wit, her candor and her unwavering principles and sense of justice. I’m trying to pace myself with these stories because I know I’ll be caught up soon and will have to wait patiently for the next saga like everyone else. She’s become a familiar friend now, the perfect para social relationship. From one spooky mom to another, thank you Liz.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this podcast until now. Liz Sower and ghosts in the burbs is my favorite escape from the world. I re-listen to this podcast one to two times a year. It’s the perfect amount of spooky. Liz is an excellent story teller, relatable, and has a delightful voice.

I love your voice, love the music, love the stories. Always my go to for something spooky soothing to fall asleep to.

Every so often, Liz says she has to throw in the towel. As a mom, and a writer, and a podcaster, and all the other things she does, she gets buried in demands and expectations. So the first time she said she had to say adieu, I believed her. Years later (2026) I decided to re-listen to those stories and was so delighted to see she had returned to podcasting, and I had so many stories to binge! Liz, thank you for podcasting. Thank you for writing. Thank you for sharing your books. I’m heartsick to see I’m catching up and won’t have back to back stories to binge as I took a much needed break from all the news podcasts that just bury me in soul crushing information. But, thank you for writing and for all your recommendations. Stay scary!

I really enjoy this podcast. I’m so glad a TikTok video from the host came up on my feed, which is how I discovered it. The podcast gives me the perfect “cozy/creepy” vibes that I love. Ms. Sower has a very pleasant speaking voice and I like her funny personal thoughts that she includes in her episodes.

My wife and I just finished The Cul-de-Sac and we loved it! Just the right amount of creepy, with enough red herrings thrown into the story to keep us unsure of who the villain was or what their exact motives were until the end.

Liz is a natural story teller. These stories keep me on the edge of my seat. Her style is so relatable! Just love this podcast!! Edited to add that I have been listening to this podcast since its inception in 2016 and I have relistened multiple times. I devour everything Liz writes and reads! I absolutely adore her work and her style and her mind.

I’ve never written a review… but Liz and her stories are such a treat when they pop up in my feed. I’ve listened for…Years. Since the beginning, I think. Her stories and books are spooky, but not graphic. Which is the best since my phone always starts playing what I’m listening to loudly in public, during the most gruesome sex scenes. If you like spooky, without all of the gore she’s the best. Thank you Liz.

How can I explain how good this podcast is. First of all Liz has a fantastic friendly voice. Listen to her and suddenly it’s like listening to a good friend talk about her day. I miss her when I get caught up on episodes. The stories are creative and you feel part of the Wellesley community. You even start to feel like you know the residents. I can’t say enough good things about Ghosts in the Burbs!

I have attempted to listen to many ghost story podcasts, and I never like them! This podcast is just better. The storytelling is great! The audio and voice of the host is great! The language is not disgusting or offensive. I appreciate these slightly scary, creepy stories.

This is easily one of the best ghost story podcasts out there. Liz’s soothing voice draws you in, relaxing you just enough to lower your guard, before her stories slip under your skin and haunt your imagination long after the episode ends.

This is such a magical podcast, and Liz is such a fantastic writer. I practically break my ankle running to listen to new episodes as soon as they’re uploaded.

This podcast will FOREVER be my favorite podcast. Liz Sowers storytelling skills are fantastic, spooky and just the kind of pace that keeps me clicking through to the next episode. The individual stories within make this podcast so easy to binge! I’ve listened through this podcast at least five times! It never gets old!

Reminds of SessionsX, Not only is this shower super creepy, it also feels somewhat cozy which is a hard balance and it’s done expertly here, I love putting an episode on while driving at night it’s comforting and spooky all at once. And the creator is a kind and awesome human who and storyteller worthy of your time.

The stories feel both realistic and magical at the same time which I really like. I love paranormal podcasts when there is no irrelevant conversations between hosts and no obnoxious sound effects. I love these. The narrators voice is really easy to both stay attentive to and tune out which is perfect for how I like to listen. There are so many clever aspects of how these are structured together too… it just kind of lets you escape into it easily. I’m so glad I found these. I also haven’t heard any commercials in them yet, which I really appreciate. I definitely understand when people use advertising, but I use these to fall asleep with and it’s jarring when an ad comes on that’s loud and obnoxious at the end of episodes and I haven’t seen that with this podcast. I’d probably still listen even if they had to add them though.

This is my second time listening all the way through from episode one and it gets better with each listen. Liz is an amazing story teller and I cannot even begin to express my gratitude that the space has remained ad free. It keeps the atmosphere and makes it so I can fall asleep to tales of cozy horror… although some are definitely scary enough to keep me awake 👀 I internally scream with joy when we get a new episode, and while it can be a while between them, I just feel blessed when a new one pops up. I love the full stories as much as the neighbor stories and I was absolutely riveted by The Cul-de-sac. This podcast is such a gem!!!

Wonderful stories! Everything about Ghosts in the Burbs is enjoyable. I found Clair in a store and it’s still my favorite, though The Cul de Sac is great, too

I came here from GTTU pod/Dead Time and I’m mad at myself for not tuning in sooner. It’s SO good. Liz is an excellent writer and storyteller. I love the individual stories and just listened to the cul de sac. I binged it in quick succession. It was gloriously creepy and fun! Give it a listen- you won’t be sorry.

I looked forward to new chapters every week! I was hooked! I kept putting off listening to the last chapters because I didn’t want it to end!

What a super creepy but fun story. I love how you’re able to so easily place the women I live amongst, though in another state, into such creepy circumstances. Weird yet relatable, can’t wait for me. Still looking for the older stuff though, was saving them up for a rainy day…
