Sometimes will power works but often in short terms gains. Think of diets we have started, that extra beer we imbibed in when we promised ourselves to only have one, or skipping assignments to hang out with friends. When faced with choices between pleasure now or reward later, we most often choose the former. Because making hard choices is costly in terms of cognitive resources. For instance, the more we resist temptation the more primed we are to give into it. We are setting ourselves up to fail. The brain is constructed to avoid pain in any form and that includes being uncomfortable. Sacrifices in the present works if the future is guaranteed which they seldom are, and seem less so if one grew up in a difficult environment.Follow us on Facebook Get Down To The Brace Tacks

Now that we know that our feelings are the body’s navigational system we can move to discussing individual “feelings” and seeing how we can use them as tools of navigation in our journey towards our emotional health. Being excited is the same as being afraid. Do you agree? The difference between excitement and fear is what our brain has been conditioned to think. In this week's episode, Michelle is sharing her personal experience with Fear and how she dealt with these feelings when she did her climb of a life time. come join us in the community "Get Down To The Brass Tacks"

I am sure that you have at one time or another tried to define your feelings. It is very hard for us to be aware of how we feel when we are feeling good. We may not notice because it feels so right. The same can be said about being in a bad mood, but if we could name the feeling then maybe there would be some way out of the “bad” place? If you want to get down to brace tacks and find out what your true feelings are about something, this is where naming your emotions might come in handy! This episode will help you identify the cause and move on from there…hopefully!Join our community at "Get Down To The Brass Tacks" on Facebook
