Enough is Enough
60,000 inmates, 11,000 staff, and hundreds of thousand stakeholders are touched every day by decision made by an organization that seems to have no leadership. The last 7 months have been a series of disasters like GA DOC has never seen before. And we have SILENCE as a response to every single challenge. As best we understand GDC's data, 1933 inmates have contracted the virus, 70 have died, and 17 remain in hospitals around the state. That, friends, is just the tip of the iceberg. In the first 8 months of 2020, there have been 21 homicides, 19 suicides, multiple riots at GDCP, Ware SP, LASP, Macon SP. And all met with silence. The GA Lawmakers asked GDC leadership to repond to their concerns. CRICKETS Just today, GDC teased us with a tweet regarding "modified visitation." That should go just as well as their "modified quarantines," where inmates who were sick had to go to work details and then after work were locked down for the night. Yeah, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.
