Dr. E.J.R. David the author of “Brown Skin, White Minds,” argues that Filipinos and Filipino-Americans live with colonial mentality, a specific form of internalized oppression where individuals regard anything of their heritage as inferior to their colonizers. In his book, Dr. David integrates research and history to examine the psychological impact of Spanish and American colonialism in the Philippines. Growing up in a conservative Catholic & Filipino family can be difficult if you're a closeted gay kid. As an adult, how do you reconcile the past when you feel misunderstood by your family? In an exclusive interview, Geoffrey confronts his older brother for being homophobic growing up. They hash out memories and stories from their upbringing. Geoffrey learns that his brother has his own story too and that relationships change and grow over time. 

What happens when you see your face on Zoom and think you need to lose face weight? On this episode, Geoffrey talks about trying to lose the quarantine 15. He goes on a diet but becomes overwhelmed by all the rules for acceptable low-fat low-carb foods. In the process, his inner helicopter parent comes out and he ends up sabotaging his own peace of mind. He learns that sometimes the best diet is not having one at all.

Geoffrey gives three tips for staying motivated and productive when everything feels really hard right now. These include conserving your time and energy from the craziness of the world, so you can kick butt at the stuff you care about.
