Welcome everyone to this podcast, today we are going to talk about the importance of sports and other activities for children during the pandemic.
Considering that some children have not been able to go back to their regular classes or that these are no longer carried out under the same modality, sports, physical activity and other activities play a fundamental role in the development of children and in their adaptation to the new reality we are facing. That is why today we will mention some examples that can contribute to this development and that can help children to have a more active life and maintain good physical and mental health.
First, we will talk about a sport called Taewkondo which is a sports practice and a martial art that involves a large percentage of contact actions or movements that people commonly take as violent but if we go a little deeper into this practice we realize that it always depends on the person who practices it, because the person who performs it must take care of himself and reflect respect for himself and others. On the other hand we can see how this practice improves in the child aspects such as attention, discipline, responsibility, honesty, self-confidence, self-control, etc; and from this I consider that taekwondo is a way of life for children and not as many people think that the only thing that incites the child is to generate aggressiveness.
Second, we will talk about the music that in early ages entails a general stimulation of children, this because in the case of babies always try to imitate those sounds they hear, and this is replicated throughout life until they reach an advanced age; on the other hand, it highlights the fact of generating a connection between the rhythm or beat of the music and the movements that are performed. If we take this to sport, it can be used as a way to motivate or generate a greater performance potential in the person through the rhythm of the music, also the coordination or those adaptations and neural connections generated by listening to music while performing certain activities.
And finally we will talk about video games. When we venture into the subject of video games, we must take into account which are the most appropriate for the age of each child, that is to say that each video game is based on the age of the child to handle certain difficulty, certain skills and restrictions against certain violent actions. Taking into account the above, each video game develops in the child motor skills, coordination abilities, and some conditional abilities; in this regard we find two types of video games, passive video games that are those in which the movement and displacement are almost null and active video games that are those in which the displacement is very evident, and it is in this where those benefits mentioned above are covered; For this reason, video games are a good alternative to perform physical activity and strengthen the corporeality and corporeality in children, without leaving aside the disadvantages they can bring and the care that should be taken in this regard.
