Before The Leftovers, Justin Theroux played not one but two (!) roles on Sex and the City. His first guest appearance was as Stanford’s friend Jared who’s just been named one of the coolest people under 30 by New York Magazine, and unsuccessfully attempts to flirt with Carrie. The second time he was (somewhat) more successful: as writer Vaughn Wysel, Theroux played the writer boyfriend with the absolutely perfect family and absolutely perfect career that would never work out for Carrie because no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t get it up

A good television show will do three things: comfort you, amuse you, and make you feel like you are part of the world it inhabits. A great television show will do those three things and never get old, no matter how much time passes since the show originally aired. Twelve years and a million re-watchings later, Sex and the City has proven itself to be one of television’s most enduring series.
