We are chatting this week about body images, how we felt about our bodies after having babies, mommy makeovers, postpartum and why we should not be pressuring women to have a "snapback" after just giving birth. We also touch on the tragic and sudden death of Jacky Oh!, mom of 3 and partner to DC Young Fly. Join us in the conversation!Connect with us:

This week we are chatting with Janelle Green, President and co-founder of The Victoria Project (TVP), a non-profit organization that funds holistic maternity care such as midwifery and doula services, lactation support, and pelvic floor therapy among others. She is the mother of three daughters, who are her mirrors and way-showers on her life path. Janelle’s work as an entrepreneur and impact investor is guided by her personal journey to, in and through motherhood. She lives in Santa Barbara, CA and finds joy in her kitchen, while visioning the future and creating beauty in small, everyday moments.
This is a continuation of a conversation that is not talked about enough, maternal health and Janelle is letting us know why and how they are helping mamas in California pay for holistic maternal care.

*Excuse our audio this week, we were having some technical difficulties!
It's Black Maternal Health Week and we are talking to our first guest, Colleen Lovejoy, the founder of Sugar Heal Gang! Sugar Heal Gang was conceptualized in 2019 by Colleen in order to join forces with other healers she knew and trusted and reimagine what healing looks like in the African American community. Their current focus is providing high quality, culturally informed, trauma-resolving, holistic maternity services to birthing families. Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control report that Black women in the US are three to four times more likely to die from complications of childbirth than white women. These preventable deaths occur regardless of income or education levels and speak to the deep-seeded racism in the US health care system.
The Black Maternal Health Fund was initiated by the collective in 2020 in order to provide essential maternity care services to BIPOC families who were choosing to birth outside of hospitals due to long-standing health care bias exacerbated by the global pandemic.
In her private practice, Seline Vibes, acuvibrational therapy is used to address mental, physical, emotional and energetic imbalances in individuals and couples. Her innovative maternity care protocols have been used for miscarriage prevention, pre-term labor prevention, regulating heart rate, reducing blood pressure, natural labor induction, restarting stalled contractions, clearing infection, breastfeeding support, natural pain management and more.

Being a mom is a hard job and in this episode we chat about the ways we try to find our own type of balance, whether it be 70/30, 50/50 or 20/80 on some days through self-care or whatever it is that keeps us sane!
