Erik Mitisek, President of insurance software company Highwing, believes all entrepreneurs belong to an exclusive club, complete with its own language. 

“It is a special sport: and those who speak entrepreneurship, speak entrepreneurship,” he says. 

In addition to his work at Highwing, Erik helped create Denver Startup Week. He and his co-founders wanted to give Denver startups a platform to tell their stories.

The importance of bringing entrepreneurs to the table and exchanging ideas is something Erik kept in mind during his tenure as Chief Innovation Officer of the State of Colorado, from 2016 to 2019. 

Although the insurance sector faces pressure right now to modernize, Erik has seen the government and the insurance industry operate at a similar speed: slow.
