I discussed with Aristyo Rizka Darmawan, a Lecturer of International Law at the University of Indonesia. He just wrote an article on the role of social media on Indonesia’s foreign policy. I asked him about that article, particularly on the impact of democratization in Indonesia to its foreign policy, the importance of public awareness on foreign policy and the possible negative consequences of social media discourse to Indonesia’s foreign policy. Moreover, I explored with him whether Indonesian leaders have used social media effectively, at least to provide a better explanation of its foreign policy. I talked to Aristyo if ever public’s voices being heard by the Indonesian government through social media.
