Linnea George
Hello fellow foreigners. Welcome home. I am Linnea George, actress and poet. On this podcast we use the translation process of poems that I have written to discuss gender roles, sexuality and the experience of feeling foreign. We invite you to bring your experiences and your language to join us in this weird and illuminating translation process... Our Differences make us The Same!
Dear Body*
Hello fellow foreigners. Welcome home. Today we are talking about this earthy fleshy home we live in: our bodies. The conversation is in German, English, and Finnish. *trigger warning! This episode talks about miscarriage, abortion, dieting, body dysmorphia, suicide. This conversation is heteronormative and my fellow lgbtqia+ foreigners are welcome to provide feedback and/or criticism. Complete show notes here. In the US, there have been a beautiful honest conversation at this level of vulnerability for the last 7 years and it has become normal to share these kind of intimacies publicly. Not in Germany. So let's get uncomfortable together, Friends! Integrate those foreign feelings you are having as we bravely open our mouths to talk about feeling uncomfortable in our physical bodies. Music improvised and sung by Ellen Atwood Music This episode mentions conversations I've had with Jamie Lee Finch Complete show notes, translations of the poem, information about the translators and about Linnea, producer and poet of the podcast can be found at medium.com/foreignfeelings instagram.com/foreignfeelingspodcast/ Foreign Feelings: Our Differences make us The Same.

Amen
Hello fellow foreigners. Welcome home. Shake off those foreign feelings as we invite you with open arms to talk about all the times we have felt uncomfortable with religion, the church and money. Today's languages: English, German, Amharic, Spanish Using the translation process of the poem, ''Amen,'' we talk about the influence the church has on our lives.  We touch on our relationship with death, money and the gendered role of being a wife. We bravely approach broad themes like individualism, community, and how we can take responsibility for our own actions (even if the devil made us do it).  Complete show notes, information on our guests, and translations of the poem can be found here.
