As it pertains to construction, the labor workforce has been dwindling for years while other industries are now just seeing their own issues. If you're a homeowner or a landlord in commercial real estate and you're looking to have work done, you can bank on the fact that costs are going to be going up going forward and it is going to take longer to get someone to perform the work. What is the solution? How are we going to get more people into the construction workforce to build that house, to install that floor? The construction industry has taken a beating over the years from my generation that had parents basically grow up in it and they said, "Well, I beat myself up so you didn't have to", or, "you need to go to college, it's important you get a good degree". And we are now suffering the consequences of that mentality.

Floor preparation, concrete moisture mitigation, self-leveling underlayment and skim-coating are absolutely 100% the most important part of the application of a new floor, whether a soft good, a sheet-good, or a hard-good, it is absolutely 100% vital and it's the owner's and general contractor's worst enemy at times because it is an absolute unknown and there is no tried and true dollar figure that you need to think about.

A present update of what flooring and construction looks like here in 2021 and beyond. Both unstable and unpredictable, to say the least. With no shortage of products out there it's really important that you partner with a trusted contractor, subcontractor, or flooring house to help you make a proper decision. There are so many options available out there. And there's more and more going on daily. The problem being is the pricing is going haywire. And those that are installing the product are getting fewer and far between. Check us out on the socials, FloorDecisions on Twitter, Instagram and on Facebook. Flooring has come a long way from shag rugs and vinyl tiles. The choices are a plenty, no matter your application, from kitchens to bedrooms all the way to classrooms and gymnasiums. Whether the space is a dedicated application or multi-purpose, the proper solution exists. Created to help you avoid a pour decision, this is the floor decision dot com blog and podcast. So you have found Floor Decisions Dot Com and Floor Decisions Dot Com podcast and why Floor Decisions? Well, it's a good play on words of poor decisions. And what I want you to avoid by listening to this podcast and reading the blog is avoiding poor decisions when it comes to flooring, substrates, trades, contractors used and make sure that your project - whether it is a living room floor, kitchen refinishing or a gymnasium application or new flooring for your school or office space - you make a proper decision. So Floor Decisions is here to help you attain that and, much like Let's Fix Construction, I don't want it to be about me. It's not just about me, it's about you: the consumer. It is about you: the listener. It is about you: the reader, and it's going to be about other players in the industry as well. It's also going to be about guests. It's going to be about manufacturers, it's going to be about installers, and it's about sharing that knowledge to help you avoid poor decisions. So I'm actually pretty excited about the direction that this could go. There's not a lot of free information out there on the internet in one place. It's a little bit here a little bit there.
