Text: 1 Samuel 17:32-40Intro: Part of God’s training plan for David involved God placing the young man in some difficult situations. In those difficult times, David learned to trust the Lord and walk in the power of God. We see David in one of the most desperate times of his life in these verses. As we watch David walk into the Valley of Elah and face a giant, we can see some needed lessons on how we can survive when we are in giant country.

Text: Revelation 6:1-4Intro: Revelation chapter six is a shock to the senses. Up to now, we witnessed scenes of heavenly worship. Here, we see images of divine wrath. From chapter six through nineteen, we are in the “Tribulation Period.” (Jer.30:7(NKJV)) (Dan.12:1(NIV)) (Mt.24:21-22 (NKJV)). “The Last Days”, are we there now? People scoff when you ask that question. (2 Tim.3:1-5)The seven seals on the book in the hand of Jesus begin to be broken, one by one. As the seals are opened, a series of divine judgments are poured out upon the earth and those who dwell on it.

TEXT: Titus 3:1-2INTRO: Our text comes from a short epistle written to Paul’s young associate Titus who was tasked with finishing the work of establishing a healthy functioning church on the island of Crete. As I’ve studied the Cretan culture over the last week, I’ve determined that it shared much with the culture in our own nation today. Scripture records that one of the Cretan’s own prophets proclaimed, “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, and lazy gluttons.” It was to this young pastor that Paul authored a letter providing the instruction and the foundational principles to complete the work of establishing the church in Crete. What does Paul establish as a theme for setting the church on stable ground? Do good! In this epistle, we see how to transform a culture. The Cretan church’s core strategy to change the culture of the nation was to do good in all aspects of life. It worked for them then, and it will work for us today.

Text: Psalms 91Intro: The coronavirus still dominates the news and for many, our thoughts also. It is classified as a pandemic. The primary concern is not necessarily the current sickness and death count, although they are heartbreaking; it is the potential devastation this disease could cause that is most scary. The Bible has a lot to say about plagues, and we can draw counsel from the word of God as to how we should respond to the current situation.
