Used to be a five but…
Was a five until they brought politics into it, this should be a escape from that garbage

Such fun
I’m new to this show and got sucked in right away. The voice acting, sound effects, live music and songs are all terrific. They have interesting episode themes, often accompanied by fun facts. The material is absorbing and can be eerie, thought-provoking and funny. They even have fun with the ads on this show. I’m very excited I found this and have plenty of catching up to do.

Keep the politics out of it. Unsubscribed
Used to love this podcast. Now it’s political. Bye

Like it at the beginning
I preferred it when the episodes were full hour + long episodes. Now they are cut up into little episode chunks and it looses something in the precoces.

Wonderful
This is a great podcast! I love the energy of all of the actors. I really feel like I’m at the show personally

I wrote a review before
I think, but I just wanted to say if I hadn’t, this is a fantastic podcast. Equally chilling and interesting. One day I’d love to see a live performance because just like Hamilton, hearing is one thing but seeing is a whole other experience. The recent episode gives a fantastic twist to a Christmas classic, and the musical accompaniment is fitting and wonderful.

Great entertainment with a little wickedness
I am a potter and art teacher so I spend a lot of time alone in my studio. These stories make the time fly and are so amusing. Thank you everyone that works on the show!

This podcast is incredible. I feel as if I’m physically in The Slipper Room with every episode & I can’t wait to experience it in person. Never stop!

Amazing work
You guys put so much work into bringing these spooky stories to life. All of these stories are amazing listens (if I can muster the bravery, hehe). I may end up a little spooked but isn’t that the best part? Great work to all of you guys and I am always excited to see what the next theme is, it’s always fun to see your creativities in action. (Btw my favorite episode was Moonlight Flight and I wish to see more episodes like it in the future) Amazing work to all of you at Fireside Mystery Theater! Keep it up and, as always, mind the shadows

Theatre of the mind
This is a truly gruesome, I mean, great stop for live reads & performances of the darker side of literature. The quality is top shelf & the matriarch is just incredible here...check out the Midnight Readings, you will not be disappointed. If you’re not aware, FMT Records in The Big Apple at the Slipper Room...go on the website & check out the schedule, maybe stop by. This is great stuff. Keep up the great work.

Wonderful podcast, blending old and new, the macabre and comedy!!!
I love this podcast for so many reasons! I am 33 and love a good horror story. However I like variety. Not all have to end badly. The stories here have their fair share of creepy endings that leave you hanging, and the occasional happy ending. Also it’s never ALL dark, they have a wonderful sense of humor, even their commercials are funny! They all act wonderfully and their voices are truly captivating. Perhaps the BIGGEST reason I like this show is because I am a fan of old time radio. I love old time shows such as “the Whistler”, “The Shadow”, etc. this podcast is the best modern radio entertainment period! And it’s obvious they know old time radio too! I am constantly seeing nods to the classics and even learning more about them. The episodes they did on “All night radio” were truly magnificent and they summed it up the best in that they were paying homage to “the theater of the mind.” I wish there were more groups like them. Good audio performances are so wonderful. Listening to them is like listening to a modern, updated “golden age” of radio. I simply cannot stress how good their performances are, how entertaining and spooky their stories, and how wonderfully new yet nostalgic they are! They nail every point of entertainment! It is now a life goal of mine to see them perform live in the Slipper Room! I don’t live in New York but I am going someday, to see these guys perform!

Wonderful people renewing older entertainment
I thought I had written a review ages ago, but I guess now is my time to shine. If you’re interested in older forms of entertainment, such as old radio plays, then this podcast is for you. FMT manages to spin a new tale every month, keep it interesting and spooky, provide a couple of laughs, and keep the charm of old time-y radio. Other fiction or serialized podcasts I’ve listened to feel boring to me because their writing and acting is just so– normal. Something you can find anywhere, and especially on tv. FMT is the exact opposite. Their acting and sound design goes all the way, some might even say over the top, to make it sound different and special. I haven’t found a single podcast that compares to Fireside when it comes to the appeal of old radio dramas. I had the pleasure of meeting the (almost) entire cast and crew when I took a leap and decided to make the 8 hour trip from Maine to NYC to see them perform live, and I can easily say it was one of the best experiences of my life. Since I’ve been listening for around 4 years the voices of the actors almost because a comfort to me, and every new episode was like being wrapped in a warm hug. I felt like I knew everyone, and the spooky stories provided by the wonderful writers inspired me to write spooky stories of my own. Those will never see the light of day. Every person involved in making the show are genuinely kind and exciting to be around. They welcomed me with open arms, and even the people behind the scenes and in the audience made me feel at home. It was an experience that I’ll never fully be able to describe, but can only think to say that it’s magic. If you want good stories by good people, listen to Fireside Mystery Theatre.

Scary tales
I was on the edge of my seat as I listened to this talented group of actors weave the scary tales together. A great way to spend some time using your imagination. What a treat for your ears. I can’t wait for the next episode.

Fireside Mystery Theater
All of the plays kept me listening. The stories were well written even though they were short. Most of them had surprising endings.

Yuck
Over acting. Keep identity politics out of it and it might be entertaining. Otherwise just more political bias tripe.

Fan
I have known Gus for years as a musician, booker, soundguy, and friend, but until I went to my first episode of Fireside Mystery Theater, I confess I really had no idea as to the depths of his talents. The show blew me away. The writing was creative and funny and kept me on the edge of my chair, the actors were captivating and hilarious and really make everyone feel like they are part of the show, and the musicians provide a wonderful bridge between Fireside's world of make believe and the iconic Lower East Side of Manhattan. I am torn, because even though I tell everyone I can to come out and experience the show, I know one day I'll have to arrive an hour early just to get a seat, but I will...

Love it! Lots of fun. The voices are great and so are the sound effects and songs. I like that there is a variety including scary, thrilling, and mystery. I wish there were more episodes. Also I wish there were a whodunnit section, maybe I haven’t gotten to those episodes yet.

I love the acting and stories. I don’t care for the singing at the end, so I just skip that part.

One of my fave podcasts and see it recorded live if you can!
I love FMT! Their production quality is superb. The stories are tight and it’s an amazing show to see recorded live at the Slipper Room in NYC. If you aren’t in New York, don’t worry nothing is lost in the podcast version.
The WallBreakers
A little spooky
I enjoy this show very much. It’s usually preformed by live actors who are probably on a stage in some kind of club. Humorous, gripping, and a little spooky. Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen.

Not a fan...
The acting is ok enough, but after listening for months- I'm tired of hearing all the microaggressions. I'll spend my limited time on more inclusive pods.

Great production quality!
I would love to attend the live show someday. The team is great at their work, especially with the quality of audio while the stories can be stunning as well as quite ordinary at times, but that's okay, I love the team and this podcast! Keep them coming!

Monotonous after 10 episodes & awful sound quality/balance
The show started off delightful and witty with amazing singing and renditions of songs. But after awhile the voice acting and ESPECIALLY the storylines just became monotonous, repetitive, predictable, and dull. If you want to know the basic premise of every story it's essentially: person has dilemma-> makes bargain-> plot twist something happens and someone ends up dead Really such a let down and on top of that they spend no time post editing in order to at least normalize the sound quality so you don't have ear splitting audience laughter juxtaposing quiet cast talk. I get that it's recorded in front of a live audience but post production still exists. You can still equalize the sound so the voice acting is just as audible if not more audible than the audience. Also the voice acting isn't that great. It's so melodramatic that even the serious moments can't be taken seriously. The accents are totally off too. Novelty made the podcast good but mediocrity of voice acting, story content, and sound design killed it. The only thing it has going for it is the singing.

Pandantics
Unusually pleasant
A successful escape from mundanity, each episode takes us away from the tedious task at hand into a slightly surreal realm of antiquity and culture. I enjoy: the plots, the voice acting, and the high quality production. I am critical of: very minor background noise from a live studio audience?

A great binge listen!
Fireside is an amazing podcast to binge listen. With it's darkly atmospheric production, the evocative music, and the engaging characters brought to life by the immensely talented cast, it's hard not to get lost in the world of Fireside. Definitely give the podcast a listen, and if you're lucky enough to be able to catch a live show, do it! It's worth it for the hilarious ad reads alone.

Great radio play series but some problems with the audience
Great radio play series featuring a great cast of actors and some wonderfully twisted stories. However, the tone of the series, which is often dramatic, does not match it's audience, which laughes at inappropriate times. While this would be fine with comedy plays, like the "Thrilling Adventure Hour", when it is distracting with "Fireside", taking you out for what is an excellent radio drama. Worth listening to but wish they would fix the audience problem.
