This episode’s guest is Brad Cronin. Brad is very humble so I’d like to give you a bit more of an introduction than he gives himself in the episode. Brad is a 24 year veteran of the fire service. He is currently the Acting Deputy Chief of Training and EMS for the City of Newport Fire Department in Newport, RI. Brad is an accomplished fire captain and paramedic that takes a hands-on, technology-oriented approach towards training. He’s a master of his craft and has found numerous no-cost ways to improve his department’s training. In addition, he’s an NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist and runs a successful code consulting business with his wife. His business has provided support for the Boston Fire Department as well as several large corporations. Brad is an accomplished public speaker at many industry conferences and provides fire protection education regularly to municipalities across the country. In this episode, we discuss Brad’s background and his transition into the professional fire service, his roles within the fire department, how he has navigated tricky times in his career, and some leadership tips for rising leaders in public safety.
