Brandon Golden is the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at East Carolina University, a Division I program in Greenville, North Carolina.  He graduated from ECU in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.  After graduating, he spent 2012-2013 as a volunteer at High Point University.  Than in the spring of 2014 he was a volunteer at Mississippi State and during the summer of 2014 volunteered at Wake Forest University.  Next, from the fall of 2014 through the summer of 2016 he spent his time as a volunteer at Saint John’s University, while there he also got his Master’s Degree in Sports Management.  Also, in the summer of 2015 he was a strength and conditioning coach for the USA Baseball team.  For one semester after graduating from Saint Johns in 2016, he was a strength and conditioning coach at Charleston Southern University.  Than in January of 2017 he was officially hired at East Carolina University, where he still remains.  

In this episode, we start off talking about his Journey up to being hired at ECU and what he had learned throughout that time.  We also talk about lifting at the High School level and what Coach Golden believes to be the best route throughout that.  Specifically, he explains movement patterns, which he believes to be the most important thing to focus on at that age.  Then, we dive into mobility and why that is so important for a baseball player.  

We also discuss foods versus supplements, and what Coach Golden as learned through his time working with nutritionists.  Next, we dive into the recovery process, focusing on sleep and what he recommends as the best amount to recover properly.  We finish off this podcast talking about the importance of warming up and stretching to give yourself the opportunity to be at your best on the field.  Listen to this podcast to learn how to optimize your time in the weight room and train to play at a higher level.
