In 1921, the Greenwood District in Tulsa Oklahoma was marked by affluent, Black businesses. Following a town tragedy, Black Wall Street was devastatingly destroyed. This incident would have an impact on Black businesses across the nation. Too often we as Black people feel the impact of systemic racism, but the knowledge regarding the foundation of oppression is oftentimes hidden from us, either behind paywalls, through the erasure of historical documents, via distorted media, and so forth. The onus, unfortunately,  falls on us to Read The Fine Print. I am your host, Taylor McElwain and I’m here to serve as a cultural broker to do so I have an educational background in sociology. I am currently a Ph.D. student in sociology and I am so excited to learn along with you all on this podcast. Together, we will unveil the horrendous truths of the oppression of Black America.
