"If you allow the cloud of darkness that is currently casting a shadow over you to expand and form a funnel cloud, then you will also allow the storm to blow you over, knocking you down to the ground and hold you there with its might and strength."
Hey friend! Today's conversation is one I feel will definitely resonate with you. There is a wonderful book called Mother Teresa's Secret Fire that speaks about her personal struggles with God, with her beliefs, as well as with her faith. When I first read about the darkness she felt for many years, all while remaining faithful through it all, I can recall thinking to myself, “If Mother Teresa has that kind of darkness, and she is MOTHER TERESA, who am I to think that I won’t? That I shouldn’t? Afterall, she is the actual saint, where I am a mere human woman. It put things into perspective for me. I have a feeling you too have had moments like these where you wonder why you are struggling or why do you feel sad or why you are feeling an overall unhappiness in life when you are faithful to God.
Sister, being a Christian, being a faithful follower of Christ, being a faithful servant to our Catholic faith is not an easy thing to do, but hear me when I say, there is nothing, absolutely nothing this world has to offer that comes even semi-close to the eternal rewards in heaven we will gain as a result of our faithfulness and our walk with Christ. This is the meat of today’s conversation, remaining faithful to both our Lord as well as our Catholic faith despite our struggle to find happiness.
