Hey Magic Makers!
Today I am speaking with a fellow copywriter, Brittany Herzberg!
In this episode, we share a lot of information about what a business owner needs to do before you hire a copywriter!
A copywriter will help you optimize your words out there that represent your business. A copywriter makes it easier for people to land on your website, book a consultation, buy a product, buy a service.. Whatever it is, the copywriter is here to help your ideal clients say yes to you quickly.
Brittany is a copywriter for holistic health professionals. She started off as a massage therapist and through that, she met other health professionals. She wanted to help them to stop hiding behind their degrees and start focusing on who they are as people by finding an entry point for emotional and human connections.
Once they found their emotional and human voice, their businesses took off, becasue the public cares about who you are as a person, not a fancy degree.
The way to connect with your audience is by discovering their personality, owning it, and then putting that out into the world. Your magic is being you!
We talk about some really specific questions to ask yourself to connect with your audience on a personal level that can be put into your copy aka the 7 layers of why!

Happy new year magic makers!!
Can you believe it is 2022? This year, I challenge you all to share your voice more than ever before. Today’s topic is about Podcasting, but more than just that… It’s about the confidence to stop silencing yourself and sharing your voice with the world.
My podcast producer, Hayleigh Hayhurst is my guest on today’s episode! My podcast has been so transformative in my life. It has helped me talk through things and have the courage to share my truth. For me, if I didn’t start this podcast, I don’t know if I would be as aware of what I need in my life, as I do now.
Hayleigh is the owner of Espresso Podcast Production, a full-service podcast agency specializing in editing, marketing, and strategy. She helps business owners increase their revenue by strengthening their podcast strategy. Hayleigh encourages people just to start their podcasts. Whether they have a producer or just friends who hold them accountable, you just need to do it.
Hayleigh started her podcast journey in college where she co-hosted a Pro Wrestling Podcast called Wrestling Winedown with her friend Lo. After college, she planned on moving to Cambodia with the Peace Corps to teach English, but then COVID hit and she was delayed. At that point, she decided to move to Seattle and start her podcast editing and coaching business.
Hayleigh shares so much free content on her Instagram (@espressopodcastproduction) and in her Facebook Group, “Espresso Growth - for Podcasters, Entrepreneurs, and Industry Leaders.”
When you google “How To Start A Podcast” can be so overwhelming. The first thing that you should do when you think about starting a podcast is sitting down and talking (out loud!) about what you want your message, topics, and goals to be. Then from there, you can design the podcast.
Finding your voice isn’t just about business, it is about finding who you are as a person. You don’t know who needs to hear your story, so just start the podcast. The world is a better place when we listen to each other.

Happy Holiday's Magic Makers!
There are so many crazy and fun things about this holiday season. I am an introvert who loves people, but do not loveee large gatherings!
My life has changed a lot this year, and I find myself often anxious about the unknown. I moved from Seattle to San Diego after a breakup, and now moved to Santa Barbara, where I knew absolutely no one!
In a new city, I wanted to meet new like-minded people and headed to Instagram to look for local meetups I found an organization called “The Communal Table” which is SMALL Gatherings for women combining food & conversation.
I wanted to take a moment to talk to you about rest and self-care! Not only about just why you need rest, but also HOW to rest without feeling guilty! Take some time for yourself this season magic maker because that’s when the real magic happens.
This podcast has transformed so much since we launched in August, and I feel so honored to be a part of your life. If you feel so inclined to, please leave me a review so more people can find this podcast and prioritize their mental health in their business!

Happy holiday season magic makers!!
Whatever stage of grief you are in, you are welcome here.
My guest today is Sadie Banks, the owner, and creator of Good Greif Journals. She saw a topic that has touched every single one of us at some point in our lives, grief.
Her business started in 2018 when she and her husband were struggling with infertility. Her plan was to go to college, get married, have the white picket fence, have babies, and be a stay-at-home mom. But it was not working, she was not able to get pregnant and spiraled down into a deep and dark place.
The unique and most amazing part of the good grief journals, Sadie actually interviews hundreds of women on the topic and runs it by a sensitivity reader, so the journals are extra helpful and not triggering!
If you yourself have not experienced grief, we also talk about how we can help our friends and family who have experienced grief.
We cover 10 things for you to do when you experience grief. People always offer to help when people are experiencing grief, and when you are in the thick of it, the last thing you want to think about is asking for help! I put these all in a blog post on my website, kelseyformost.com/blog
We give you ideas for boundaries, exit strategies for awkward family functions
And how to create your own holiday magic, even if your home looks different than how you imagined this holiday.
Her grief journals include topics like Grief, Anxiety, Infertility, IVF, Miscarriage, Pregnancy, Motherhood!
This conversation is so timely because being around family can prompt some unwelcomed questions about your life, so we hope that this episode helps you stay grounded.

Did you know you already have a kickass assistant who's ready & willing to work for you, attract and qualify leads, and get paying customers for you 24/7? Meet: your website. (This episode is definitely for you if you're feeling burnt out and could use some help taking the pressure off)
My guest today is small business web designer (and new momma!) Rebekah Read. Bekah finds joy in the process of discovering the person behind the brand and making them feel known. Her goal and deepest desire is to be her client's biggest cheerleader in their craft and provide them with a community of supporters.
I wanted Rebekah on my podcast not only because she is a fantastic person, but also because she approaches web design by helping her clients feel truly and deeply seen (the same way I approach copywriting!). She never wants anyone to feel the overwhelm of having to DIY everything.
She is an amazing designer (*couch-cough* she actually designed my current website!) and she offers tons of incredible educational resources. One of my favorite freebies that she offers is an SEO checklist- it's truly amazing!!
In this episode, we talk about the guilt and anxiety that creatives may have with a service-based business. We also dive into how to build a work process that builds your cup, so you can leave room for creativity and rest since that is the only way you will put your best self out into the world.
Every business has a deep meaning behind why it is starting, and Rebekah loves finding that reason and bringing it to life on a website. If you need a new website or are SO over your current website, Rebekah shares some tips of what to do, what to avoid, and things to remember.
If you ever feel like you are not enough, create a note on your phone with all the compliments your clients have given you. This is so common and makes it much easier to remind yourself that YOU are enough! There will be times in your business where you want to give up, but giving ourselves strategies to power through and stay positive will help us in the long run!

Y'all your ears are about to be BLESSED by actress, poet, artist, and educator (& my BFF!!) Candance Nicholas Lippman.
Listen...Candance is my best freaking friend so this conversation goes DEEP. You might remember Candace from the original YouTube version of "Find Your Magic"- she was my first ever guest and we're having this conversation almost three years later. In that time Candace went through a split from her longtime partner, the death of her grandmother, and struggles with mental health. She ALSO has had more career and personal success than ever before, landing roles on Freeform's "Good Trouble", Grey's Anatomy, and she's now a series regular (that's the STAR for non-showbiz folk) on "Blingspotting" on Starz.
This conversation definitely leans more to the mental health side of things. I know we show up for conversations like these on podcasts, but too often we pass over the mental health side of advice.
Heads up: Candace and I talk openly about faith, and it would mean a lot if you could stay open-hearted and open-minded. Everyone’s faith is different and we need to hear other perspectives to make sure the world is a beautiful, better, more accepting place.
Mental health affects all parts of our lives and business, so that is why I threw my outline of what I thought this episode was going to be out the window.
Instead of talking about working hard, we talk about the bravery it takes to share a story, the beauty of opening a door so other people can follow you and share their story and their trauma, how to maintain faith that you are on your path, and how to stay inspired and strong in your purpose.
When you are praying for the rain- aka a new job, new opportunities, etc, there will always be “mud” that comes along with the good. There is no achievement that will truly make you a happy person, being completely confident will make you a happy person.
So many people are buried with their ideas. They never fulfill them, it gets buried with us. So many unfulfilled dreams are buried with people who either never found their purpose or gave up. For herself, she had so many No’s before she got the Yes, but no one would have known that.
We talk about how to support each other, even if we don’t understand each other. Only through hearing the stories of other people in other communities can we understand how to support those communities.
You don’t have to be famous to change lives. Leave your legacy and impact others' lives, because you never know how far your reach is!

I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy today because jeez November is the best; I mean, it kicks off with Halloween (my favorite holiday), then goes right into my birthday (have you listened to my “11:11” birthday episode yet?) but then the holiday season kicks off! And with it, the official green light to slow down at work and start making (and eating!) all of the yummy holiday treats.
Since it’s Thanksgiving this week, I thought I’d bring on the person best qualified to talk to us about how food can deeply affect us; from our mood to our productivity to our energy levels, what we take into our body truly makes such a difference. That’s why I’m so excited to be talking to my dear friend from middle school and high school (!!!) Lindsay Surowitz. Lindsay is a certified nutritionist and founder of WeekNight Bite, a blog where nutrition, easy recipes, and wellness tips come together to inspire you to live a healthy, balanced life.
Lindsay started her blog in 2012 just for fun, and since then has built an incredible company that helps others live healthier lives by making small changes so habits stick. Lindsay teaches much more than just what you should be eating to be healthy, but also the gut-brain connection. What you put into your body can really affect your mental health.
I want to stress that this conversation is NOT about weight loss, it’s about leveraging what you eat to balance your mood, make you more creative, and living healthier in general. It’s also about giving yourself autonomy over your body and freedom to ENJOY food and the experience of eating.
In this episode, Lindsay also opens up to what it’s like to be a new mom and an entrepreneur, and all of the imposter syndrome she has experienced. It is so important to carve out time for yourself, where you can reconnect with yourself, your passions, and your goals.
When Lindsay became a mom, naturally she had to shift her business to care for her son. She shares some of her wisdom on this topic. Her mom takes care of the baby once a week and she feels like herself again. Being a mom is work, and put a job on top of that? It is hard to manage your baby and business baby! This balance does not need to be a 50/50, Lindsey shares her focus is usually 90% baby, 10% business. And this is okay!
The most important thing to Lindsay is showing her son what it looks like to pursue a passion.
Magic makers… If you have a magic little spark in you that you think you may know what you want to do, try it! Try it until you find what you actually love and until the right thing sticks. It is okay if you fail 10 times before you land on what you want to do!

Ever felt guilt (or even shame) about self care? "Hustle culture" has us believing that if we're not busy, we're not worthy.
Today's conversation is with marketing expert Ana Thorsdottir about work-life balance. As someone who works in creator marketing for Instagram, Ana is no stranger to high stakes work environments!
Ana started off her career in PR working with A-list celebrities at an agency, then started working as the head of Influencer marketing at MediaCom with some of the biggest brands out there. Now, she's working for Instagram on the EMEA Creator marketing team (so yeah, she knows her sh*t).
Besides being an all-around lovely human, Ana identifies as a high achiever who loves to work in a fast-paced environment, and yet she learned to prioritize herself when it comes to her mental health. She knows that if she does not slow down and take care of herself internally, she will not perform well at work.
But this episode is about more than the "usual suspects" of self care...we're talking about physical health and autoimmune conditions that are triggered by stress. It's taken Ana 20+ years to talk about her autoimmune condition, and I'm honored that she chose Find Your Magic as a safe space to share her truth. She recently started talking more openly about her health journey so she can help not only herself heal, but also help others go through what they are going through.
It's often difficult to talk about chronic health conditions in the workplace because of the fear of judgment. But as we say in this episode, if your team judges you and does not understand, it may be time to find a new team.
Don't be afraid to lead, even when you are a team of one! Every time you choose to acknowledge how you feel and take time for yourself, you are showing yourself that it is okay to take a break. It takes time to rewire those neurons. It is no small potatoes to rewire this thinking, but it is SO important to acknowledge it!
Burnout can be a serious health issue. If you don’t take care of yourself regularly and continue to push it off, your body basically puts on its check engine light and MAKES you deal with it.

And now for something completely different...How often do you REALLY stop and take stock of what you've accomplished in the last weeks, months, or year? Do you often find yourself fixated on what you DON'T have or what hasn't happened for you yet? Does it feel "silly" or strange to start naming the things you're proud of?
I've decided to use this week's "Find Your Magic" episode to put my money where my mouth is and do just that: name things I'm proud of. I won't lie, it felt strange at first to sit down and think about the hard-won lessons, the accomplishments from months ago that I'd kinda forgotten about, the wins small and big. But it's my birthday this week and there's really nothin' like a birthday to make you reflect on the past year of your life. And geez was this one wild.
This was a year of extreme transformation...And lemme tell ya, transformation years are effing hard. But you know what? They also have the greatest potential to accelerate our growth and happiness.
So in the hopes that my hard-earned wisdom from this year helps YOU accelerate YOUR growth and happiness, I've decided to share 11 lessons and 11 "wins" from this - the craziest year of my life.
Some of them are business-related (How to set up passive income! Speaking at the biggest national conferences! The case for creating digital products!) and some of them are personal (Learning to be okay with not being inspired 100% of the time! How to break up with your inner critic to form a better relationship with yourself! How to set up a mental health routine that works for you!).
So, with that, I hope you enjoy this solo episode where I'm talkin' to you guys human to human. I appreciate the opportunity to be more vulnerable, more open, and to tell some stories I have never shared.
As always, I hope you take what you hear today and feel inspired to go out there and find your magic.

Hey Magic Makers!
The (not-so-well-kept) secret is out! Confidence is the key ingredient to getting everything you want in life.
Today is all about confidence on camera! My guest, Meg Marie McMillan is a very successful branding photographer who specializes in coaching her clients on confidence. She wants her clients to build a business and a life that they are wildly obsessed with.
This episode is for you if you know you need new branding photos, are revamping your personal brand, and don’t know where to start.
If you are anything like me, when you get behind the camera you mask your true self because you are worried about how you look. This episode is full of tips on how to show up confidently and minimize anxiety when you are in front of the camera or showing up for a photoshoot.
Meg Marie McMillan is a mom, world traveler, margarita lover, and brand photographer in San Diego who’s empowered over 300 heart-centered entrepreneurs to feel confident AF on camera.
When she’s not behind the camera, Meg loves coaching other brand photographers who want to build their own thriving photography business! Meg went from having 27 jobs, 1 failed business, and quitting college, to creating her own six-figure photography business.
Her journey started when she was teaching English in Taiwan. She knew she was meant for more and wanted to travel, so while she was trying to figure out her life she started a travel blog.
We talk all about niching down. At first, Meg was doing everything and helping everyone, but it was not filling up her cup. After she did her first branding shoot with a friend, she was hooked! She realized when you show up and show your confidence, your ideal people gravitate towards you.
Her favorite thing about branding photoshoots: Using photoshoots as a tool to practice self-care. Do you want to get your nails done? Do it. Do you want to switch up your hair? Do it. Have you been eyeing that fancy dress for months? Get it!
We talk all about the unknown today. Meg shares that when you don't know what the next step will be, just follow your bliss and your heart.
