Love this!
I’m late to the party with podcasts, but I’ve recently discovered them and thoroughly enjoy listening. “Female Criminals” is no exception! The storytelling is fantastic and you learn a lot too!

Great podcast
This podcast has very interesting content but I feel like Siri is reading to me. Narrator lacks personality. I do like the cases they cover

Double standards
The female criminals are often portrayed as mindless automatons, driven to commit their atrocities due to their circumstances, whereas “being a victim of their time” is not an excuse afforded to men, because when you only view the world in terms of “oppressor” and “oppressed” personal responsibility only goes one way.

I loved Parcast
Are all of the shows going exclusively to Spotify? Because I am not. Farewell Parcast 🤷‍♀️

Vanessa IS parcast
Any podcast with Vanessa is amazing. Her cohost is great but there is just something about her voice that hooks me. My favorite word of hers is Grandiose when describing a serial killer!

This podcast is amazing
I love this podcast!! Many episodes are about powerful women who were criminalized for being before their time and not wanting to submit, roll over or placate the people around them. Others are pretty unwell and guilty of some awful crimes but the thing I like the most about the podcast is that even though some of these women are guilty of some real bad stuff we get to hear their whole story. You learn about the many awful things most of the women have experienced that led to the trauma that often is at the core of their criminal activities. You can understand and empathize with their past and their pain while also being against the violence or crimes they did that hurt others. Humanizing and fascinating, a deep look into the human condition and the social construction of female deviance throughout history.

female-chauvinism embodied
Every “female-criminal” profiled, e.g., Mata Hai, was not held accountable for their individual actions by the narrator and writers but instead was characterized/rationalized as being driven to individual amoral if not immoral-depravity, if not criminal behavior by some external force beyond their control, e.g., the infamous Patriarchy, individual men, etc. Disgusting historical revisionism to comply with currently fashionable anti-male critical gender theory where all women are victims and all men, even those individuals actually victimized by women-criminals, are their oppressors. This is ironic given the fact that feminists, with the help of paternal if not pro-matriarchal government, legal, corporate, and academic systems, are actively driving men into 2nd class status. This is reality. The biggest problem in contemporary western society is the fact women are not held to the same expectation of reason and accountability for their sordid activities unlike their male counterparts. Hence, I would not recommend this series for the reasons previously cited.

The BEST Podcast
I listen to the Serial Killers podcasts and I absolutely love Vanessa!! Her voice is so calm!! The fact that there is an entire podcast series dedicated to female criminals with over 250 episodes is crazy to think about due to the male criminal stereotype. Love this podcast and listen to it so much during the day. I love listening to episodes while on long car trips. They keep me awake for the long hours because I’m always on the edge of my seat!! Keep doing amazing!!

Ratings
So everyone in ratings has been saying to stop saying that you are not a psychiatrist every single episode. For those people who write this ratings you should know that it’s a legal matter and they could get sued if they didn’t. Not everything is about you.

Great Show, Poor Editing
I love this show, and indeed, all parcast shows, but all the time, effort, and research that goes in each episode is undermined by poor editing. Sections skip, repeat, and get jumbled ALL of the time. It’s frustrating because the narrators get cut off and you miss details, or you end up listening to the same words over and over. Parcast, please work on your editing! I’m tired of having a great story get cut off suddenly.

Loughlin episode was boring but
All the others have been extremely interesting. Always look forward to the new episodes...except for the boring ones that feel pushed.

1990s TV reporter voice and “I’m not a (mental health professional”” bit
Stories are interesting, but please leave off the caution you are simply a podcast person. In every pod you caution all you are not a mental health professional. We know already.

the underbelly of the softer sex
Wow! love this podcast…..and the marquess de sade of Japan is a seminal case during the Japanese occupation…. and the Mae West episode had me running to “My Little Chicadee” for another look with a different set of eyes…..excellent research and superb delivery.

Annoying vocals
I really wanted to like this podcast, even when I realized it was Vanessa Richardson narrating. I still have it a try but, as with other podcasts that she narrates, I can’t listen to it.

Great podcast-please get rid of the music!
Great podcast and I love Vanessa Richardson. I subscribe to many of her podcasts. One issue though, recently they added music throughout the podcast and it’s terribly distracting. I don’t mind a small amount here and there but the entire time she is speaking? I might have to unsubscribe if this continues, it’s such an auditory annoyance that I can’t enjoy the podcast anymore.

Ads across podcasts are annoying
Trailers and ads for other podcasts that download automatically are annoying.
is rhis name taken?
I just couldn’t do it ...
I love the interesting narration of Vanessa's voice, but the other host is a really bad narrator. She ruined it for me, her voice/tone messes up the intriguing vibe Vanessa conveys. I’d skip this series.

Bad music and monotone voice
And lots of ads. Boring.

Skip ahead a minute or two...
LOVE this podcast! But skip ahead a minute or two in the beginning, because her preview gives away almost everything.

Dangerous Language/Lazy Writing
I’m a long time listener to several of Parcast’s shows and usually really enjoy them, but the most recent episode on Wanda Barzee is particularly distressing. They repeatedly refer to Elizabeth and Wanda as “the wives/the sister wives”, which is horrific when applied to a kidnapped and assaulted child and one of her captors/abusers. They give the content warning of “insensitive language”, but that shouldn’t be used as an excuse for poor writing. There are times when quotations confirm this idea is coming from Wanda, but that’s largely not the case and really should be addressed.

Oh no a mistake.
This is a great show. The hostess does well with sharing about these cases. Still I need to inform the listeners. Elizabeth Smart did not tell the police who she was right away. It wasn't until she was at the police station and saw her family. Want to her side of the story? Listen to Crime Junkie. Survived aired 3/8/21.

Well Researched but Missing Something
Female Criminals has excellent content. It is one of the few podcasts out there that focuses on female criminals exclusively and brings to light lesser know cases by criminals most of us have never heard of. Vanessa and Claire are great researchers, provide clear dialogue, but the podcast is...well...boring. As someone who is writing a thesis on female psychopathy, this podcast is a must listen and offers me much needed resources for my studies. However I find it hard to listen to and keep myself focused on what the ladies are talking about. This podcast has so much potential and goes over such interesting information, but the presentation leaves something to be desired. I feel like I’m listening to a book on tape or a book report read aloud word for word. It’s just the facts here, folks and facts are great, but could we add some more entertainment? Guests, expert opinions, interviews, anything but reading a script? Vanessa has many podcasts like this with a similar formula and I know that it works, but it doesn’t hold my interest. I want to listen to all episodes, but I’m not sure I can make it through. Story telling is a lot more than simply reading a script. I appreciate the academic tone of the podcast, the nod to sources and the disclaimers, however I think it could be done in a more captivating way.

Susan Smith
The worst. The host is sympathetic about Susan’s vile, unforgivable and purely-selfish murder of those two little boys. Disgusting.

This story breaks my heart
Thank you for how you both took care in this I can hear it in your voices. Wow what type of a parent doesn’t know that their children are hurt.... sad! Thank you ladies I love you both. Do not listen to the naysayers you are telling a story
Goddezz713
How fun! Does that make me a sociopath?
You two are so funny and great storytellers. Thanks so much!
Rosetattoo22
Great but...
Please update your opening. It’s a little tired and old to keep having the intro to the podcast be how “we don’t think of women being criminals”. Maybe I’m just picky. Other than that, I really enjoy the podcast. Keep going!

No Damsels in Distress
Just Devious, Derelict, Deceitful, Dangerous, Deviants with DD cups! All alliteration aside: The “Femme Fatale” is such a Tired Trope (I did JUST promise to cast Aside All Alliterations, Dammit, Janet!) Lettuce also dispense forthwith the amusing devices, puns and visual gags. I do LOVE foley artists, though they are not currently in My employ for this review. ALAS! *dramatic sigh* [gnashing of teeth; rending of garments] Too often, Females involved in crime are portrayed as Cis-Het High Femme presenting Figures, and those we know are “Femme Fatales” - the tropes packaged for the Rabid, Rapid, Mass Consumption of The Male Gaze, Max Factor, The Silver Screen; Hollywood, Time, Life and Good Housekeeping! They are Absolutely, Undeniably, LADIES, Pressed, Dressed, Coiffed, Drawn, Lined, Powdered, Cinched, Pinched, Gloved, Doved, Stuffed, Corseted, Wigged, Rigged, Wet & SET! They are EASY on the EYES - Draped in Diamonds and Jewels - the Screen Sirens - But HERE, even your Oscar-winning Incarnation of Michigan-born Aileen Wornous will be shattered, as she was only 5’4” and yes, the statuette went to statuesque South African Charlize Theron who is almost 6’ tall, BUT SHE GAINED ALL THAT WEIGHT AND BARED HER BREASTS AND PORTRAYED AN ACTUAL UGLY LESBIAN WHO GOT GOT THE DEATH PENALTY!!! That is why you should listen to this podcast: For the most part, each of these two part biographies offer a survey that is not sensationalist or in tabloid format. It does seek to provide: Clinical, Psychosexual Context for Trauma and for those who have never studied Clinical or Forensic Psychology or Psychiatry or Sex Crimes before, one might almost feel like one is watching a team of Crash Engineers Reconstruct the scenario to a horrific auto accident: it’s absolutely amazing and the reality of it should churn your stomach and make you physically ill. It should also make you NEED to be a better person, and care more about every living creature around you. If you do not have more empathy and compassion for women and children SPECIFICALLY, with every moment of episode, you must ask yourself: WHY do I listen do podcasts like this?

New favorite podcast!
I randomly came across this on a search, so glad I did! Great content, narration by Vanessa, and no random chit chat or dragging that takes away from each story. I’m addicted to female criminals & it blows my mind that there were so many that I didn’t know about.

Interesting Topic but the Presentation is not for me
I was really excited to find this podcast. The area of women criminals is not very explored, so I was hopeful to have found one specifically dedicated to women and their psyche. However, I could not listen past the first few episodes even though I really wanted to. The presentation sounds like a bad high school presentation with the references forced in wherever. The constant “according to psychology today…” did not help. I understand, the speakers aren’t psychologists and want to show where they got their information from, but it could have arranged so as to not abruptly interrupt the narrative that often.

LGBTQ ERASURE
The podcast hosts are clearly homophobic for neglecting clear evidence into several of these women’s sexual history, going so far as to call Anne Bonny & Mary Read “friends”, and that Aileen Wuornos was earning money for her and her “friend” who she happened to live with and met at a lesbian bar. This is obviously ERASURE!!! You are editing the story to fit your ideal heteronormative values and it is disgusting

Great!
I love that the ladies get right down to the stories. I have unsubscribed numerous podcasts because of the hosts. I can’t take the idle chatter and gibberish; sounds like a couple of adolescents at a sleepover. Keep up the good work!

I get bored with crimes that are old BUT this podcast NEVER bores me. I love this podcast!!! I love that they share cases that I would have never heard of if it wasn’t for them. But also it’s how interesting they make it. I love that it’s two parts that way they don’t rush the story. I have refunded this podcast to everyone. They tell you about new cases and from all over our timeline of existence. Love it!!!!

Background music very distracting
The storytelling is good, but the music in the background often doesn’t make sense with the story and is also very distracting. It’s a shame because without it this podcast would be much more enjoyable.
