FYH 038 Making healthy eating convenient via Moderation365 with Sabrina Gilbert
I am so excited about this episode. I have the fabulous Sabrina Gilbert on the podcast, and we talk about eating in moderation, understanding your relationship with food, and what balanced eating can actually look like. Sabrina is certified in Moderation365, and we discuss some of the foundations she works clients through on their transformational journeys. She shares her story of overindulging and getting sucked into the deprivation and indulgence scale, discussing how she found her way out. She now coaches clients on how to navigate this negative diet pattern and helps them learn to eat normally. This episode is full of tangible tools and strategies to help people eat foods they love without overdoing it - mastering mindfulness and moderation. We also talk about why starting NOW is the perfect time because you will never have a moment in your life that isn’t busy. Sabrina and I share a sweet tooth and have learned ways to keep ourselves satisfied without ever feeling deprived. I am extra excited for this episode, not only because Sabrina is very well versed in what she is talking about but because I’m soon to be certified in Mod365 🤞and talking with her affirmed my appreciation for the methodology. She advocates no more random workouts from a magazine and focuses on progressive overload. We discuss how to create structure with your workouts and fit it into your life. Building muscle is your insurance policy for aging with ease. It takes time, patience, and resilience. You’ll hear us talk about needing to push heavy weights and what that means for each individual. In this week’s episode of “Feed Your Health,” I have on the fabulous Dr. Karin Nordin - the founder and CEO of Body Brain Alliance with a Ph.D. in Health Behavior Change. In this episode, we discuss the different aspects of behavior change you can leverage when thinking about developing your New Year’s Resolutions and planning for your 2.0 Self. We discuss some challenges many people struggle with - self-judgment, unrealistic expectations, perfectionism, and fear of failure. Dr. Karin shares tips and perspective shifts to help you navigate that journey. I share some personal experiences with learning to get uncomfortable when adopting new challenging behaviors. We talk about what sorts of behaviors or skills might be needed to get to that next level self. You’ll hear us talk about different ways you can reflect on your years and create your NY goals. Finding Balance and Prioritizing Self Care with Lisa English
This episode is about finding balance in a busy world and learning to slow down, prioritize what matters and develop the lifestyle habits that can get you losing weight, gaining energy, and feeling confident in your skin. I had a great discussion with podcast guest Lisa English, an NBHWC and Certified Integrative Health Practitioner. She works specifically with women over 40 as they navigate their health journeys. Lisa shares how she healed herself from chronic stress, adrenal fatigue, and gut issues. We dive deep into prioritizing ourselves, setting boundaries, and slowing down. She talks about the importance of sleep and how often you have to take care of yourself before weight loss, and body transformation is possible. We also discuss the need to cut out some of the noise and get back to the basics. It’s important to realize that things will always come up and that there will never be a perfect time to start. We talk about how working with a coach can speed up learning how to implement habits in real life when things are busy, chaotic, and stressful. In this episode, I deep dive into developing your aspirational identity. I break it down into an actual list to show you the person who has already successfully achieved their weight loss transformation. What behaviors do they do? What is their mindset like? How do they show up? How do they handle challenges? When you start to visualize this person, you can begin to embody some of the behaviors and mindsets of this person. The more you think about this person - the easier it will be for you to adopt this new identity. Everybody who wants to make a change, or go through a transformation, will have to take on a new identity. Use this episode to help you as you begin to think about what you want in the New Year. I am so excited for this episode. In this week’s episode, I have on special guest, Dr. Sam Chernak. She helps women with chronic back pain overcome pain and get stronger to feel good in their bodies. She is a Physical Therapist and Back Pain Coach. She believes in focusing on Your Strongest Self - in ALL areas of life (Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, and Spiritually). We had an epic conversation full of tangents, laughter, and profound truths. We shared our personal stories and struggles with body image and dieting. We discussed thoughts on health and fitness industry BS (hint: the size of your body does not determine how healthy you are). One of the biggest things you might find most relatable is that we each struggle with perfectionism and the all-or-nothing mentality.
