Our speaker for this sermon is Ron Whisler, who, with his wife Jacqui, serve as Wycliffe Bible Translators in Indonesia. Ron will be sharing with us a great message about empowerment through discipleship. Here's a preview:
Jesus was very intentional in calling the twelve disciples. He called them into relationship, creating a community where the disciples could be a part of Jesus’ mobile ministry team. Within this group, Jesus frequently quoted scripture and prayed with many different people. Jesus was a master at training twelve ordinary men, preparing them to be sent out, to lead their own ministry team. They too would quote scripture, pray for those around them, and be a part of God’s redemptive plan to reach all nations with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Within Jesus’ group, there was a sense of accountability and also comradery – a culture for learning, growing and changing the world.

This message we'll be hearing from Pastor Paul and the College Ministry.
We will be picking our Questions of Jesus series up for one last sermon in honor of the college students, and focusing on the pivotal question asked of Saul, at a pivotal moment, in his pivotal life. Saul, known now by many as Paul, was asked by Jesus as to why he was 'persecuting him?' This question deserves our attention as it brings to the forefront the unique union between Christ and his people, the church.

If God is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-present, and all-loving, then why do bad and evil things happen in his world? In our present crisis, many are likely wrestling with this question on several levels, and for good reason.
The good news is, the Bible does not dodge this thorny issue; it deals with it head on. Genesis, the first book of the Bible, lays the foundation for understanding the problem of evil. In fact, the story of Joseph, covering the entire last half of Genesis, brings the problem of evil to a climactic point of focus that zeniths in the final chapter. This message will not say all that needs to be said about the problem of evil, but it’s foundational to all that can be said.
Your heart will be both challenged and encouraged with what may be the most important insight about God and life we can know this side of heaven.

The subject of this message is one we can all relate to—how to forgive those who have hurt us. Jacob’s 11th son, Joseph, provides an unforgettable model for us to follow, and the dramatic transformation of his brother, Judah, who was the most aggressive in betraying Joseph, reveals the depths and power of God’s grace for even the most severely broken.
The story of Joseph’s reconciliation with his brothers is both insightful and heart-warming. In a time inundated with bad news, this message is a welcome relief and encouragement.

In life, we all follow someone, something. And it doesn’t help that every day a multitude of voices beckon us to follow after them. Throughout His ministry, Jesus invited people, all kinds of people, to follow Him. And He is still inviting all people to follow Him today, regardless of our age, gender, ethnicity, past sin, present status in society, or any other identifying feature. Join us this Sunday as we explore His incredible invitation to each of us to follow Him.
