Always interesting to hear both sides from two hosts on the opposite sides of the political spectrum and Jonathan.

I consumed this content for years but at this point the hosts are simply negative about everything. I don’t think they provide useful balanced information anymore as their emotions and personal biases against, seemingly everyone, makes the show impossible to listen to now. I am more sad than anything.

Two stars because Johnathan is articulate, smart and when the other two stop talking, provides salient points. Cody rambles, rambles and “yeah ugh ooh yea” and says nothing of substance. The contrarian never satisfied with anything trope is tiring and frustrating, plus he’s constantly interrupting. Katie seems like she’s going to say something substantive but then loses track and diverges and goes on tangents and has to always mention about her life in the mountains and uses big words that often fail to state a cogent idea. I tried, I’ve tried to give this pod the benefit of the doubt because I want to hear other voices on the left but I always feel I wasted a precious hour of my life to listen to people rambling with no message other than “we hate everybody but can’t articulate why”

I am a day 1 fan. Loved y’all at cracked, and have continued to love the show. But this podcast is just a slog of mush. I don’t want 5 minutes of trash holidays followed by 20 minutes of “how ya doin” You spend so much time on worthless chitchat, that you rarely have time to actually cover the news. I loved the cast in the begining, but it lacks any flair that I care for

It’s amazing they do this daily content, they are thoughtful and definitely getting into the thick of daily news. The banter and humor is nice, given how much of a bummer news is. The cadence can be kind of jarring, and there’s a lot of sputtering. They do this weird affected “newsman” SNL voice, which can be rough. It has a theatre kid vibe, but without the confidence or fidelity, which can be a bit hard to listen to. Look, it’s a solid daily progressive podcast that’s rough around the edges. it’ll converge on something great.

The experiences Katy relates about interactions with people in the mountains and how they’re voting or why they’re voting are invaluable. I haven’t heard any other left wing podcaster that seems to have an actual grasp on the average republican voter. I live in Alabama so I interact with them daily and her experiences mirror my own. It’s very refreshing to hear another leftists opinions that are grounded in reality rather solely formed by interactions with Twitter trolls. Especially on a platform as large as this. Keep up the good work Katy!

Put it on while on a long car trip. I was reaching for a vomit bag with one hand, and listening to this podcast. My nausea subsided almost immediately hearing the voices of Cody and Katy. Thanks guys!

I mean it’s the same show, without any visuals so my tender sacks of eye flesh can do less work! my one gripe is that the format kinda makes citations a drag since you have to match the timestamp with the video and there should probably be a pastebin somewhere but whatever

This show is so one-sided when it comes to the mass murder of children! They never bring in people to cover the “other side” of the issue! How very dare they!

I’ve come to think of the Some More News as my weekly dose of both rage, insanity, and comedy. I enjoy it more than Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and that’s saying something. I’m part of the patreon but I still listen to hilarious and unhinged commercials because I enjoy them that much (seriously advertisers, I could skip commercials but I don’t want too!). I appreciate that there is always a call to action or some answer to the issues we face. Also Even More News is awesome as well! Thank you all for doing this!

Thank you guys for caring about things and speaking up. I’ve listened to SMN for years and never bothered to write a review or anything, but today’s episode about Gaza protests deserves a response. Your show is one of the few places I can go to not feel gaslit about the state of the world, and to feel some kind of hope.

I wonder how much of your audience cared about that. I really dug high stepper or whatever so this beef is just tangentially interesting to hip hop heads. Kendrick deep and jcole used to be on the edge of that same kind of truth. But very meh jcole diss and honestly havnt heard drakes response.

Honestly I’m over it. Fanbase of a bunch of tankie 12 year olds.

Filled with the information I need… somehow hilarious, educational, entertaining, informative, and infuriating all at once. I highly recommend this podcast to everyone!

What a rip-off. Exactly as advertised. It’s the YouTube episode without pictures. Anyway, five stars.

This show used to be fantastic, but in the last few months it’s just unlistenable. It’s a shame.

Bring someone with other opinions so it doesn’t sound like echoing the same stuff into already agreeing sameness

Cody was cool and all got a while, but fell into the trap in 2019 that only Bernie was a good candidate and made the bad faith attacks on Liz Warren for being not progressive enough, which was absurd. The sexist attacks on her were too much for me to continue being a fan of Cody.

Each show tags back to other issues that add to the theme of the show. Excellent research with a large scope to the story.

Over the past year, this podcast which I’ve loved over time has gotten more difficult to enjoy. I feel more and more pet issues, self promotion, virtue signaling, etc… creeping into what was generally your standard social-democratic podcast. Gimmicks, adds, obsession over Elon Musk but focusing on him when he wants them to, and Israel and their hatred for its people with low oxygen on almost anything else, pop culture and analysis over research etc… I still love the overall energy of the hosts, but I also feel like it’s not geared towards audio anymore, funneling or trying to funnel me to YouTube. If I wanted to look I’d watch YouTube. I feel they are phoning it in. I have just unsubscribed after 3 years of dedicated listening.

thank you for making this in podcast form! especially the "Some More News (SMN)" episodes! they are my favorites. Cody is a master of whatever it is he does in those episodes !! (the SMN episodes remind me of John Oliver) love the whole team though, and I really appreciate being introduced to Robert Evans and all of his awesome work! (also conveniently available in podcast form, as well) love you very much!

Great site but goddamn they spend way too much time jabbering before getting to the actual show

Love the show but it’s the only show that when I listen I have to turn the treble a the way down and the boost the bass up to make the show listenable in my car. Not sure if anyone else experiences this but it’s a bummer cause I love the show and the audio sounds like nails on a chalkboard. Seems like it would be an easy fix for whoever does the sound engineering for the show.

The first and most correct news show. Fun throwback, I’m listening to an April 2022 episode where y’all say Elon is gonna take over Twitter in marketing name only and boy in this world where it is suddenly rebranded to X but still says send tweet is hilariously optimistic for ye olde us of a.

I gave them a 5 star review shortly after I first started listening, several years ago. They’re one of the many talented people from the Cracked re-org diaspora of talent that has spread from international war reporting to Emmy-nominated comedy writing. Peers in a really talented group of people I have been lucky enough to hear amazing work from, for years, for free. Their producer features a lot and he’s one of, I assume, many very talented people they added to their team. This is insightful, thoughtful, well-researched and funny! Obviously I am hugely biased in favor since I have been reading, listening and watching their art for years, however it’s not nostalgia that keeps me coming back. These are smart, hard-working and talented people that put out a lot high-quality and in-depth work. They cover many issues better than PBS news hour or NPR.

Well-researched, unapologetically liberal, and hilarious!

I like the show mostly for the quirky humor. It also opens a window for me on what the younger generation is thinking. But that’s the downside, too. The ignorance can overwhelm the insight. For example, while discussing Biden, it’s all he’s a sleeping old man, unexciting, and white bread—which politically is irrelevant even if true. It says nothing about Biden, but says lots about who’s making the statements. There’s no analysis into what the Biden administration has actually done or not done over the past two year and what it is aspiring to do going forward. It’s all snark and celebrity politics. But, in my view, that’s the weakness of the younger generation raised on snark, unseriousness, and social media. Yet that’s precisely why I like the show.

Katy, Cody and their guests are a breath of fresh air and a nice listen for anyone that likes politics and hot topics from a empathetic progressive perspective.

Is amazing! Always on point. Even when discussing the depressing state of the world Cody manages to make it feel less so. Also love Warmbo.
