
For the second episode of the Erudition Podcast, Ellie and Makenna explore one of their favorite topics in art history: the Dutch Golden Age. This period began in the Dutch Republic (roughly present-day Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands) around the end of the Eighty Years War in 1648, and was a period of economic growth and prosperity for the area. As a result, an abundance of art–specifically painting–was produced during this time.
