The latest episode of Equal Education Radio explores the national government's use of Section 100 of the Constitution, which can be used as an extreme measure to take over the functions of provincial government when service delivery has broken down, and to restore the province to a basic level of functioning. It has been five years since the Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE) was placed under a Section 100 intervention, but there has been little improvement.

On 19 May 2016, Equal Education members, with help from the Equal Education Law Centre, filed papers in a court case against the Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga to fix loopholes in the Minimum Norms and Standards for School Infrastructure regulations.

On April 22nd, 850 learners marched to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature.
