Episodes of Grace
Episodes of Grace
Wesley Gately-Price
This is Bible Study on the go to fit your schedule. The first series took five weeks to explore the book of Jonah and how God offered grace to Jonah, the Nivetites, and us. We can be stubborn, insist on our own way, judge, and even condemn the people we do not like. But God offers us and our "enemies" the very same opportunities for Grace. Over the next 10 weeks, we will look at the Epistle of James. James is an especially challenging book as it forces us to ask if our actions, the things we do and say line up with what we claim to believe. Can we talk the talk and walk the walk.
Conflict
This week we look at James' perspective on conflict. Conflict is something that we all encounter on a regular basis. James helps us to know what the source of conflict is, the dangers of unhealthy conflict, and how to navigate conflict when it comes.

Wisdom
Today we look at James 3:12-18 and the differences between human wisdom and Godly wisdom. There is no denying how attractive the promises of human wisdom are, but there is also no denying the harm it causes.

The Tongue
This time, on Episodes of Grace, we look at the tongue and the words we use. Words are a powerful force. Words have started wars and yet ended them also. Words led nations to genocide and offered safety to the oppressed. Words inspire, instruct, and encourage. Words can belittle, demean, and put down. Words can convey our deepest emotions of love and joy anger and hatred. Words are powerful, which is why we must take great care in how we use them.

Faith and Works
Welcome back to Episodes of Grace. I'm back from a holiday hiatus with new software and a new episode on Works. What does James mean by "without works faith is dead?" Why do some not like this letter, and how do we experience salvation? We look at these questions and more.

Cravings
In this episode we look at James 1:13-18 and what he calls cravings. Where do they come from? What do they look like, why are they dangerous, and how do we escape them? I hope you find our conversation to be useful and helpful. Please send in your question, and comments right in the Spotify QA or email them to [email protected]. I would love to include you in our conversation next time.

Stand Firm
We introduce the Epistle of James by talking about why we are using it, who wrote it, and who it was written to. We also look at James 1:1-12 and what it means to stand firm in our faith in the face of the trials of life, how we look at our selves and those around us. Please don't forget to submit your questions and comments.

Off the Hook
This is our last episode as we study the book of Jonah. We discuss Jonah's anger as the city is spared and the bush withers away. Is our anger a right and good thing? This is the question for us this week. Thank you for participating and look for a possible new series of episodes this fall!

Change
After an intense journey Jonah finally arrives in Nineveh to deliver God's message. Well, Jonah's version of God's message that is. Nineveh responds and repents immediately, and God changes God's mind. The main question for us is: How do we let go?
