WHY – the first of our profile episodes on different people doing endurance sports. These episodes are about exploring a person’s why.
Why did they start on their journey into endurance sport?
What makes them tick? What is their inspiration? What are their goals?
The first person we’re profiling is Bryony Williams. Bryony is preparing for her first Ironman in Cairns this week. However, it’s not been easy. She balances it with working shift work as a paramedic, has had to overcome a bike crash during her preparation and also still performs as an opera singer. So, she’s busy but she’s determined and driven to do her best.
Bryony was a fantastic guest and we were able to cover topics such as:
- Weight control and body image
- Overcoming fear & barriers
- Dangers of comparison
- Negative self talk and triggers
- Ego
- Overcoming injury
- Mental reframing, resilience and overcoming excuses
- Routine and consistency
- Getting more women into triathlon
- Being vulnerable
- Role models
- Community
