So far so good
I started listening to radical personal finance, then heard about this show. I find the father and son conversations about tricky situations are a great way to think through the problems myself.

Where did you go???
I was so hungry for exactly what you were delivering and it was such an oasis to have your content. Please continue making these podcasts. The last one was like from June 2018 and I’m kind of scared that you guys are done.

The world needs men like this today
Great podcast, many times I had to stop the podcast and just think on what they had said a while, anything that makes you do this is extremely powerful and this has helped me become a better man. I cannot recommend this podcast more strongly, keep up the great work!

Very insightful and worth your time!
This is such a great podcast. The father - son dynamic offers a valuable perspective that simply isn’t present on other podcasts. These two are great guys that I would want to be in community with!

Excellent Resource
Joshua and David, I can't thank you enough for this podcast. My wife heard about it a few months ago and it was exactly what I needed as a struggling young dad. I have yet to find another podcast on the subject with as meaty and relevant content. Thank you both for your service of the body of Christ!

It changed my life!
You guys are amazing, I've been listening to this podcast for past 3 months and God transformed my thoughts on very important questions, such as: marriage, what it really means to be a man and what is expected of us. Thank you big time, keep encouraging and raising godly men trough your podcast.

Great podcast
I have been looking for a podcast for this topic for some time now. This is great podcast to listen to and I find the information very helpful.
Father in faith
Great resource for dads
This is a wonderful collection of podcasts that any father could benefit from, eithe as a daily/ weekly play or search by subject. The dynamics of a father/ son show really add to it.

Thoughtful and useful without being trite
I'm a father of two biological children and a foster parent of one. Being in the foster parenting world, we are constantly required to do training sessions and most of that training is dealing with safety, recovering from catastophe, and learning to pick up the pieces when life falls apart for children. Then we intervene for weeks, months, or a year or so before saying goodbye. The experience can be a bit of a whirlwind. This podcast has been a great asset so far as I think about what it means to parent my biological children with an attitude of longevity, parenting for the long hall, and honing the Christian character and education of my boys with intentionality.

Very Skewed
I enjoy Joshua's R.P.F. podcast, and I can stomach differing views. I know Joshua has very libertarian, anti-government, pro-family-first views and I appreciate those biases. He's also well-researched to a fault, meticulous in his study. Some of these episodes of Encouraging Christian Fathers are fine, but he rants against birth control, and his anti-gay marriage rant bemoans societal change without caring about the lives of women. Divorce prevented domestic abuse, birth control allowed for financial independence of women seeking careers. He gets a little too White Christian Males rule for me in this podcast, which goes against his espoused beliefs in RPF where everyone has a self-reliance that they can use to influence their life outcomes if they work hard. He believes that for Christian white married men, but he's against you if you love gays (what rights should you have?) or if you are a woman who seeks the same freedom and independence that a man can achieve without discredit. People with fertility problems are also not welcome in his philosophy. It's unfortunate that he isn't a more empathetic Christian father. Joshua's dad seems lovely, Josh seems preachy and underempathetic - like he hasn't been exposed to the realities of the lives he rails against. He's well researched in finances, but he bloviates on societal structures without knowing or interviewing married gay men, married gay women raising five adopted children, women who divorced abusive husbands, husbands who divorced abusive wives, and women who paved the way for success and then had their family at age 35. He paints them all as unGodly with a single brush stroke. One star.

Our broken world needs more content like this.
I’m 5 episodes into this podcast and I’m so grateful to David & Joshua for putting this content out there. These are salt-of-the-earth God-fearing men. Content aside, even just listening to the father/son duo talk with such love and respect for one another is encouraging. Big thanks from Texas! Disclaimer: In case you can’t read the title of this podcast, these hosts are Christian. They will discuss their worldview. Their worldview will inform the words that say into the microphone. :)

Necessary
In a world of lukewarm christian content and half-truths, the Sheats' Podcast stands out. I was heavily considering creating a similar podcast, but have decided not to since Joshua and David have filled the need perfectly. The person who gave this one star is doing the world a disservice by discouraging this quality content.

Highly Recommended
I've been a listener since Day One, and found the podcast through Joshua's other podcast, Radical Personal Finance (which I highly recommend as well). I'm an avid podcast listener and not a week goes by that I'm not subscribing to and unsubscribing from a number of podcasts -- there are only so many hours in the day, and I have very high standards for what I'm willing to spend my time listening to. I've been disappointed by a large number of "fluff" podcasts, but ECF is a practical, down-to-earth walk through the calling of Christian fatherhood. I really enjoy the father-son dynamic, and I'm happy that it doesn't fall into either the traps of off-the-cuff banter or formal interview. It's basically the audio version of joining Joshua & David for a cup of coffee -- very relaxed and informative.

Reinforced decision not to discuss religious views
I listened to this podcast with minimal eye-rolling because most of the advice was good. The authors show a disappointing lack of practical advice on how to love your spouse, but what motivated me to stop listening altogether was listening the younger father espouse his criticisms on public education in the US. I never heard another episode after that mal-informed rant because I couldn't take him seriously. I could only remind myself of his ignorance. I'm glad my children won't come across his in school.

Great podcast
As a listener of Radical Personal Finance I am excited to see that Joshua is taking on this important topic with his Dad. A 40 something father of ten myself I think the hope of our country lies in the message of strong Godly families. Can't wait to listen to the upcoming episodes.

Yes you should subscribe
Joshua's calm but contemporary approach makes anything he says interesting. I listened to him originally for his financial content, but discovered his views on faith and family matched my own. He inspired me to create my own podcast (Working Class to First Class), and he continues to inspire me today.

Become a better Dad
Getting to know Joshua Sheats this last year has been a tremendous blessing to me. His friendship has challenged to be a better father, husband, Christian & business owner. He has sometimes said things to me that were tough to hear, but needed to be said. I am grateful for godly men like Joshua & his father who are willing to pour themselves selflessly into the lives of others through this important podcast for Christian fathers/leaders in their households. We need more Fathers who are Fathers
Love the show and the insights Joshua. Being intentional about raising children and acutally thinking through the outcomes of how we parent is so important. Looking forward to many more episodes to come.

I’ve found my Sunday morning devotional
As a Christian, I frequently look for ways to inject faith-based principles into my everyday activities. After listening to the first 3 episode of Encouraging Christian Fathers I can say that I’ve found the devotional to listen to while on the way to serving at my church (and on the way back). Thank you Joshua! BTW: David says about 2-3 very impactful things every show. Thank you David for spending 50 years of your life preparing for this podcast.

A Remarkable Conversation
I’m not a Christian, but I’ve subscribed to this show after listening to the first two episodes. That’s got to tell you something. This is a conversation between a father and his son about the lessons learned over 50 years of parenting. The discussion reflects a positive father-son dynamic, one to which most fathers and sons aspire. We, as listeners, are taught by both the father and son. And it’s by looking at both sides of the mirror that we see in it ourselves as child and parent at the same time. The advice transcends the bounds of religion and extends to universal messages of ethics, thoughtfulness, and passing along good values to the next generation. Beyond that, it speaks to the need for fathers - the parent that historically takes a role behind the mother when it comes to raising a child - tor recognize the importance of their roles in a child’s life. Joshua is a seasoned podcaster, and David is a storyteller who drives home a point with style and ease. Together they are entertaining, enlightening, and just plain wonderful.
