Jesus before he ascended he left the disciples with a promise and a promise that he leaves to us as well. What is it? The gift of the Father which is His Spirit to come and dwell within His people and empower us for mission.

Who was the writer of Acts? Why is that important as we start to walk through this book? As the church starts, what we find is a man more intent on pointing us to Christ than towards himself. Week one of the book of Acts.

Why do we need to be reminded to "remember" our God? Because we all too often forget him! Why should we remember him and why is it important? And what does it mean exactly to "fear" God? We pray this message encourages you to remember the goodness of God in Jesus and that a healthy fear of God should cause us to run TO Him instead of FROM Him.

Is wisdom the ultimate goal? Why is it that those who are foolish and make great gains in underhanded ways without wisdom flourish? As a Christian where is our ultimate hope in? Wisdom? Jesus...

Most of us have bought into the lie that if we just have a little bit more in our paychecks or a certain car or the house of our dreams, then we'd be happy and content. But Ecclesiastes reminds us that the craving for 'more' is never ending and really a striving after the wind. So where does our satisfaction come from? Is this available for everyone?

What are the keys to kingdom living? How does a Christ follower live out their faith in a lost world? By pursuing contentment in what we have, learning to be teachable and in partnership with each other. 

We live in a world that's filled with injustice. We see it on the nightly news, the places we live and work and even within our very homes. So what does the Bible teach us about God's justice? Where is our hope? And ultimately how did Jesus absorb the justice of God for the unjust in this world.

In this beautiful poem in Ecclesiastes 3, we see the sovereign hand of God as he holds it all together. But what does that mean for me? Our life is but a season, with a beginning and end but what we do with it matters!

If you could experience all this world had to offer in every imaginable way, do you think you would be fulfilled? Solomon actually did search for happiness and contentment in every pleasure, all wisdom and even in work and yet he said it was futile. A chasing after the wind. So then, what is there? A life in Christ is the only thing that not only satisfies but brings purpose and meaning to pleasure, wisdom and work.

We all chase meaning in this life. Family, success, status... you name it and we believe that what we can accomplish will bring us contentment and satisfaction. But. It. Doesn't. So what can we learn from an ancient book of the Bible? For starters, that we were made for something more!
